Location and Transport
Bahrain International Airport is located in Muharraq, an island about 4 miles (7 kilometres) northeast of the capital Manama and its huge financial district. The best way to access the airport is by taxi. Call ahead for a metered taxi service to avoid being overcharged. The trip into Manama takes around 15 minutes, and should cost about BHD 4. A surcharge is payable after midnight.

Travellers with scheduled stopovers or unexpected delays can find plenty of hotels within 4 miles (6 kilometres). Some provide a shuttle service to/from the main terminal. Bahrain Airport offers a range of useful facilities, such as banks, currency exchange and a prayer room. There’s also a large duty free and dining area, as well as an art gallery.
