I have visited many many hostels but this has so far been the absolutely best in many ways. The price is amazing for the quality that you get. Outside the place looks like a normal house but after you walk to the backyard you see the beauty of it all. The place was pretty, quiet and the staff were super nice people. I felt like at home. I liked La Serena.
I liked La Serena. It has all the basics and its a nice town with a beach. Really loved the japanese garden park. Keep in mind I am in my 60's. There are also several universities so there are a lot of young people. It's also close to pisco and wine makers and has access to telescopes and nature in the Elqui Valey. It also has a nice airport which is about an hour trip from Santiago. Nice place for a retired person to visit. Also, Coquimbo has a wonderful fish market and some sites to see.

I absolutely adore its enormous beach. We're talking unlimited space with TONS of sand. And excellent restaurants are everywhere!
