Excellent value: Affordable, with breakfast included.
The location was good too, with an ATM, shops, and restaurants close by, and the bus terminal just a short taxi ride away.
Our room was quiet (on a higher floor), clean and huge, even had a jacuzzi.
The lady at reception was sometimes very friendly, nice, and helpful, and at other times more reserved and practical, but always helpful when needed.

The staff is extraordinary, although we arrived with an early flight the room was ready and they let us check in. also we were able to leave our bags at teception after check-out. This room comes with breakfast in bed (eggs, bread, juice and coffee). Jacuzzi is lovely on their cold nights and there is a partial view to the square and church. Getting to Las Lajas easy and cheap with the blue busses leaving from the church you see from your hotel window. Elevator. Coffee and peppermint tea at reception 24h.

Ipiales is about 20 mins driving from Las Lajas which was...
Ipiales is about 20 mins driving from Las Lajas which was named as the most beautiful church in South America. After I wend there, I agreed that it is very beautiful and the design is unique.
Ipiales is also 10 mins driving from the border to Ecuador. I had no issue to cross the land border in 15 mins.

There is nothing in Ipiales.
There is nothing in Ipiales. It's a dirty place, with shady characters that you wouldnt miss much by skipping this place completely. However, it's THE border town so you have to go here. While you're here make the best of it! Definitely go to Las Lajas Sanctuary during your stay. If Ipiales is a 0, Las Lajas Sanctuary is a 10!
