Handling close to 45 million passengers per year, Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is India’s second-busiest airport. It is located 12 miles (20 kilometres) from Mumbai’s central train station, though the best way to reach the airport is by bus. Jump on the 312 service to Vile Parle (East), the 308 to Andheri (East), or the 321 to reach both. Otherwise, take an auto-rickshaw from outside the domestic terminals, or book a prepaid taxi—costing around INR 780—for a quicker service into town.
Travellers with a scheduled stopover or unexpected delay can spend the night at one of several hotels within 600 metres of Mumbai airport. Before takeoff, there are plenty of facilities to keep you entertained. The vast retail space offers national and international brands, while Chhatrapati Shivaji’s Indian Art project consists of over 6,000 artworks. Other available services include free WiFi, a spa and salon, and luggage storage.
Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport has three terminals, connected by shuttle buses which run every 20-30 minutes. Inter-terminal taxi services are also available for a small fee.
