The amenities and the location was fantastic! It was the perfect hub for both touring the island by car and for exploring Reykjavík. It was a short 10-15 min walk to the main square. The kitchen was well-equipped for us to prepare meals, and we appreciated the extra bedding and towels available. The property managers were extremely detailed and responsive with their communication to us. We loved our stay!

We loved our basic little cottage at the edge of town. It was quiet and clean and the bathrooms weren't too far away. There was always an available shower and toilet and there was even a small sauna.
The ladies at the front desk were very kind and helpful. There's a free shuttle into town twice a day - saved us a bit of a hike.

Everything! The location is great, it's near the highway and also near the city center. The room is clean, spacious and very warm. I felt very cosy. The bed is comfy and the bathroom is clean too. There is also kitchen to cook anything with utensils available. The parking is free on the streets too.

It was quite nice, neat and cozy. The breakfasts made the stay even more comfortable as you didn’t have to look for food for breakfasts in the morning.

Everything was amazing, but above all, our host Youssef, who helped us with absolutely everything. We are a family with an 8-month-old baby, and Youssef was always available to support us in every way—from carrying the baby to making sure everything was perfect to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Our flight was canceled due to the bankruptcy of the Icelandic low-cost airline, and here we found a home away from home.
The place is close to the city center. The rooms are clean, with comfortable mattresses and pillows, and the heating is excellent. There is a large kitchen fully equipped with cookware and water, and they provide tea and coffee. There are many spacious showers available, and the bathrooms are always clean. Free parking is right outside, and there is a quiet lounge area with sofas to relax.
Set in a building dating back to 1916, this Reykjavík guest house is within 5 minutes’ walk of the popular Laugavegur shopping street. Both WiFi and private, on-site parking are free.

I couldn't drive and couldn't figure out the bus system.
One tour promoter I asked gave me misinformation.
Hadn't thought about the shortness of daylight, probably would have enjoyed spring or summer better.

ive already answered these questions twice. we paid for a superior room and got one. Neighborhood is out of the way but has great views and animals and is near the road to Costco. we spent 2 weeks driving the entire island and enjoyed it. This place has a theme tastefully done and modern amenities. The Viking Hotel restaurant where you check -in has a nice themed restaurant good food and service.

This is one of ,,those,, accommodations where you want to spend the night after a week full of traveling. It is clear that the owner has a sense of detail and quality. You can feel the quality on the materials and furnishings, the equipment of the entire apartment and the services that are here. Everything is still new, clean. Situated in a quiet location. We slept very well! Parking in front of the entrance, Accessibility anywhere is perfect. Since it is new here, the accommodation does not have any review and even though I usually do not write reviews, I think this one deserves one. For the price, it is exclusive accommodation and we will definitely come back here.

Hafnarfjorthur was between Keflavic and Reykjavik making it quite handy and more affordable to stay at. We rented a car to tour the Golden Circle, enjoy the Blue Lagoon, and sightsee in Reykjavik and felt that was a good choice. We didn't sightsee in Hafnarfjorthur.

Perfect for those who like a mix of town and country - there was something to do for everyone! The scenery is exquisite with waterfalls, volcanos, craters, mountains, black sand beaches, seals and bird-life and in town a great mix of shopping, bars, restaurants and coffee shops. It’s easy to get around with a car. Recommend ‘Icelandic Street Food’ for traditional food and ‘Sandholt’ for hot chocolate and pastries ‘Loo Koo Mas’ for the most amazing mini donuts and ‘Mama Rykjavik’ for excellent vegan food.

Hlid Fisherman's Village had lots of "viking" character with some very interesting maritime realia, close proximity to Icelandic horses, heritage chickens, a koi pond, cedar sauna and two rooftop hot tubs. The room was very clean, bed was comfortable and the view was to the sea.

We are use to very large rooms with kitchens in our hotel room. While we vacationed in Iceland we stayed at VRBO’s but we saw this unique hotel and had to stay here and experience it!
Loved walking around the hotel and the use of hot tub and sauna !!!

If you have enough time, you can easily spend two days exploring the city. Those confident in their driving skills and emergency response abilities can consider self-driving to explore the surrounding attractions, offering much more freedom. Alternatively, you can join a local tour group, which also provides a decent experience. This is especially suitable for those who don't want to drive and have limited time.

Lovely little fishing village.
Lovely little fishing village. There is a couple supermarkets and some restaurants. There is a main bus stop 2 mins from the Viking Hotel which was so handy and the stop for the Flybus coach to the airport (approx £23 pp one way) was opposite the hotel which was super handy and you get a beautiful view of the harbour whilst you wait.
We got off 2 stops early from Reykjavík one day and walked back to explore and there were some lovely sights on the way. It’s a really nice place that’s neat and tidy. Probably wouldn’t need more than half a day wandering round but it’s nice to see the town.
