Really nice location, kind personnel. Good breakfast and the room was really awesome. The hotel is undergoing improvements, but it does not interfere with the room or the aspects that make it a great place to stay at.

Great hotel with stunning views overlooking the beautiful valley. The rooftop is a very nice place to soak up the sun and the amazing nature around you. But the best part was the extremely friendly staff. We didn't get up in time for breakfast, but when we checked-out they still asked us if we'd like coffee and brought fresh croissants (delicious), jam and orange juice.
On top of it all they gave us a great recommendation to visit Firmiano castle with Reinhold Messner's museum AND gave us free tickets for it. Oh, and then recommended an excellent restaurant in Bolzano for lunch.
Really a wonderful experience and we're looking forward to be back.

We liked that we could arrange everything online. We were warmly welcomed. The host was also willing to provide additional information about shopping, food, and other requests. The apartment was lovely and everything was nicely tidy.
Enjoying typical Alpine surroundings in a peaceful location on Steinmannwald Mountain, Hotel Rotwand is just 10 minutes' drive from Bolzano.

Great family operated hotel. Location had a fantastic view and wasn't out of our way. The pool was nicely decorated, refreshing water (which was fantastic after a hot day), clean, and deep enough to swim. The restaurant had wonderful homemade food with great service. Staff were extremely nice and friendly. Room was nice, beds were comfortable, and bathroom was big and clean. Breakfast was very homey and good.

"we do not have "italian" personal in the hotel, from eveyone the mother language is german dialect but italian citizien, so your coment look racists or even without sense.
the cleaning women is not mexican, she is peruvian like i told you.
if the beef you had at dinner wasn´t right, we could change it without problem" To which I must respond that I spoke Spanish with the lovely maid. Sorry I didn't know she is Peruvian, but that's no reason call me racist. I thought Fabian was an Italian name. Again sorry but that doesn't make me racist. Bolzano is a perfect spot for exploring the lower reaches of the Dolomites with very good train connections to Verona, Venice, Innsbruck and beyond.
The old town is gorgeous to walk around and off course the must see attraction of The Bolzano Iceman. Otzi, 5300 year natural Mummy should be number 1 on the 'cannot be missed list'

Eppan is a great smaller area outside of Bozen. We enjoyed being close to both the city and nature. There was a local market on Tuesday, and the bakeries and restaurants in town were all delicious and staffed with friendly employees. A cool little spot for a trip!

We just visited small central, old town part of Caldaro and it was nice for one/two evenings. We mostly travelled outside the Caldaro just having hotel in that town. Surrounding vineyards are lovely to visit and enjoy vine tasting. Great roads for motorbike or bike trips.

Great place to stay while visiting the beautiful Alto-Adige region. The BZ bus pass is an easy way to get to Bolzano City Center without driving a car. Parking in town is challenging and/or expensive.

Would like to go back prepared to do the walks and hikes in the area. The old city and market were charming. Loved the Archeology museum and learning about Otzi the Iceman. Cable car and train a great introduction to the possibilities available for future visits.

Nice and friendly. Much more German than Italian, which mainly is reflected on the selection of food available. Very nice area for starting walking and trekking in the mountains. Beautiful surroundings.

Wonderful clean spacious room and good breakfast. I loved the fresh figs from the garden. Perfect place for daytrips to Bolzano, the earth pyramids and Seceda (1 hour drive) and other places!
The swimming pool is great and the garden well kept. The hosts/owners are very friendly and made us feel welcome. It was nice to have a small fridge in the room and airconditioning too!

The museums were well laid out and interesting, also reasonably priced. It was a lot busier than we were expecting & less friendly than other Italian cities. There were many shops, quite pricey, as well as a variety of street stalls, so a busy bustling City.
