Handling over four million passengers every year, San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport is the biggest airport in Puerto Rico and the busiest in the Caribbean. Located 3 miles (5 kilometres) southeast of San Juan, in the town of Carolina, the airport is served by AMA buses, which leave from the departure level of terminals A and D. Taxis into downtown San Juan go by a meter and take about 12 minutes.
Travellers with scheduled layovers or unexpected delays can choose from several hotels located within and near the airport. If you find yourself with time on your hands before takeoff, there’s a selection of duty-free shops, restaurants and other services like beauty salons to keep you entertained.
