Location and Transport

Washington Dulles International Airport is located in the Loudoun and Fairfax counties, 27 miles (45 kilometres) west of Washington DC. Although this may seem far, the airport is well-connected by public transport. The direct Silver Line Express Bus service departs every 20 minutes, while local buses provide a cheaper but slower option. Taking a taxi into Downtown can cost up to USD 60, but getting out before the bridge will bring the rate down.

Passengers with scheduled layovers or unexpected delays can find accommodation in Dulles Airport or nearby towns like Herdon. There’s plenty of pre-flight entertainment in the airport, with regular art and photography exhibitions, as well as live performances by musicians, singers and dancers. Terminal Information

Washington Dulles has one terminal divided into four gates (A-D). All are connected by the AeroTrain, a frequent automated train system with a journey time of two minutes between stations. Catching a connecting flight at Washington Dulles will require travellers to pass through immigration – a passport, visa or ESTA may be necessary.
