Imagine driving up and up a mountain to arrive at your own cottage with outstanding views of the clouds, town and distant mountain range (and volcano). The accommodation is outstanding with a wonderful Tica vibe (we stayed in the Toucan Cottage). The bed and shower are really good, with a small efficiency kitchen for those interested in a longer stay. The breakfast was served in a common area, it too was lovely, tropical and delicious.

We stayed this hidden gem of a hotel for one night on our way to a white-water rafting trip. The hotel is formed of a compound with each of the rooms facing inward into a beautiful garden area. The hotel sits close to the town’s bustling main square which has plenty of shops and restaurants, but inside it has a very tranquil and secluded feel to it so we were absolutely delighted when we stepped in from the street. A huge breakfast was provided in the kitchen area in the morning, including pancakes, eggs and fruit as well as gallo pinto. There was secure parking within the compound, which was reassuring but also meant that luggage could be kept in the car while still being easily accessible. We would highly recommend this place if you are passing through Turrialba.

Quiet, beautiful view, clean, excellent food, comfortable bed and sofa. The hosts were amazing, happy to chat or leave you in peace. Food was plentiful and can be modified to your preferences. You can ask for coffee, ice cream, fruits, and even freshly caught fish from their river fish pen. The whole place was very quiet and excellent for bird watching. Bookshelves full of books including animal guidebooks and lots of shared space to lounge in, read and chat. WiFi was strong in both the public area and the room. We did horse back riding in the rain and it was so tranquil. The chickens surprisingly don’t make much sound at dawn. The cows live about twenty minutes walk uphill.

Ruth and Andreas are a wonderful host. We experienced a warm and natural hospitality and great advice what to do. The rooms are fantastic, like luxury treehouses. The first you see when you wake up in the morning is green and pure nature. Superb the swiss breakfast with home made crunchy bread. We recommend this place for everyone who seeks a high standard and yet affordable place to stay.
