This is a great place in the heart of the Paul Valley. The view from the roof terrace is breathtaking, as is the food which is served there every evening. The owners and the staff are very friendly and willing to help with everything. We had a great stay here!

Location is flawless - on a quiet street, but just off the main road. Aluguars stop virtually opposite the property and are very frequent, both going up the Paul Valley and along the coastal road. There is a little mini market just around the corner, open until 20:00. The owner is super - helpful and able to advise on all the best walks in the area. He suggested a much better walk than the one we initially wanted to do; he had maps and suggested places to eat. The room was very comfortable, clean, and the balcony was a nice bonus. The kitchen area is really nice, half al-fresco. All the staff were lovely and kind and very helpful. The internet works fine - there are 2 networks to choose from. I was also very grateful to have access to a guest fridge in the kitchen area. We regretted cancelling one of the 2 nights we'd initially wanted to stay and only staying 1. For bonus points, there is also a little 8-week-old puppy :)

I'm at a loss for words to convey how delightful this stay was! The room and bed were exceptionally comfortable, offering an incredible mountain view. The staff was exceedingly welcoming, friendly, and warm, and the food, while generously portioned, was truly exceptional. As a starting point for hikes, this location is perfect. I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Casa Das Ilhas is located in Paul. All rooms includes a private bathroom fitted with a shower. You can enjoy mountain view from the rooms. At Casa Das Ilhas you will find a garden and a terrace.

We really liked the hospitality and the care that Katelijne has for her guests. The host helped us organise the various trekkings that we did, and told us which were the best ones for our level. The food was very good, breakfast is very generous and you also have the possibility to have lunch at the table or as a picnic (usefull if you are planning a long walk). Dinners are all together and the food is high quality. If you want to feel at home this is the right place for you. The new added pool is just what you need after a tiring day, and the view will just blow your minds. To get to the hotel there is a bit of a walk, but there will be people helping you out with your luggage, and the beautiful view and great hospitality are absolutely worth it. The island is gorgeous and the stay at Casa Das Ilhas is a must!

We stayed at The Retreat in December and had a fantastic time. The Irish owner (we can’t remember his name) was really welcoming and did his best to make every guest feel at home. You can tell that he truly loves the island, his job and has a passion for hospitality. The meals in the evening were tasty and copious. Nothing was too much in terms of dietary requirements. Dinners were shared as a group which was really handy to get to know people and share experiences and best treks. On the last morning we were going back to the harbour and he gave us a lift. Thank you for a lovely time, we hope to be back at the Retreat soon as it was our favourite place on this beautiful island.

Great location to explore the best of Santo Antao island and very close to everything you need in the town itself. Staff was great and attentive to all our needs (transportation, laundry, renting poles, finding guides, leaving luggage...). Room was clean and our stay was quiet.
