I was sold on Dar Hkaïem from the reviews here on Booking as well as on HostelWorld, and it certainly lived up to my expectations. Toutou is an incredible host who was flexible in allowing me to check in early, helped me arrange transport, cooked amazing breakfasts (and dinner) even during Ramadan when he himself was fasting. From the personalized cookies (amazing!) upon arrival to the moment I left and even beyond, it was clear that Toutou wanted to ensure my stay was comfortable and memorable. We even went to a café one evening with his friend and played card games, which was one of the highlights of my entire trip to Tunisia. As for the guesthouse itself, the decor is great, the space is clean, and my room was cute, comfortable, and safe. Centered around a center courtyard, there are only a few guest rooms (my first night, I was the only guest), a toilet, shower room, and small kitchen. I was also happy that my room was big enough to allow me to unroll my yoga mat with some space to spare. I have friends who live in Tunis and emphatically recommended Dar Hkaïem to them...and I recommend it to you, too!

This is an extraordinary little gem in the middle of the Medina in Sousse. Beautifully restored house with incredible focus on details. The rooms are stunning with wonderful bathrooms. Khaled is super easy to communicate with and Mouna makes you feel at home instantly and prepares a great breakfast.

The house is beautifully renovated with very good quality and taste. It is full of charm and cosy details. The furniture, the flooring, the doors, all the plants and the terrace make a welcoming and very enjoyable space to stay. Every room has access to the central patio light. The terrace is enjoyable day and night. I especially appreciated the little pool next to my room that allowed to cool off after a hot day out. The staff are very friendly and they go way far to help and make your stay comfortable. Access to the fridge in the kitchen is also very useful. The included breakfast was very good and served in an enjoyable area. The house is inside the Medina, so you get a feeling of life in Soussa. Walking distance to everything you may want to visit. I really recommend this house. It is definitely worth the price, which is very affordable for what you get.

This place is truly stunning. The location is in a quiet part of the medina and has incredible views from the terrace. The room was the prettiest we’ve ever stayed in and exactly what we wanted from a traditional Tunisian guesthouse. We were lucky enough to see inside all rooms and each one is beautifully different. The hosts were so welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. We chatted for ages and they gave us great tips for visiting Sousse. The included traditional breakfast was very well presented and so tasty. There’s so much food! A great way to experience different bits of Tunisian food. We booked our stay very last minute and the hosts were very accommodating. So happy that we booked to stay here and can’t recommend it enough.

Nice apartment with 2 rooms. Very clean. Lovely hot shower. It had cooking facilities but we did not use it. Situated in the heart of the Medina. Well recommended.
