This is a wonderfull Little guesthouse, in a scenic location not too far from the train station. It is a bit of a walk on foot but easily accessible by taxi and the way to nearby Koyasan is very convenient by train. The owner is amazing as are the views and the guesthouse itself. I highly recommend it.

They cared for me like a member of their own family—kind, helpful, and attentive. The house and garden were beautiful, set in a quiet countryside village far from the hustle and bustle of the city. The atmosphere was peaceful and truly special. Staying there was a beautiful experience and a glimpse of Japan you won’t find in big cities.

This was our second stay at Slow House, and next time we are in Nara, we will book with them again. The room was very comfortable, with futon-style beds and an admittedly small washroom with a small stand-up shower that's otherwise fantastic. The staff are delightful, and they remembered us from our last visit, so that was really nice. The location kind of can't be beat, since it's very close to main streets for food and shopping, but tucked away where it's quiet. Many attractions like Todaiji and Kasuga Tanisha are either within walking distance, or a short taxi or bus ride away. Also lots of hidden gems, and the staff have some favourites all ready to list 0 including vegetarian and vegan restaurants. Arranging for therapeutic massage services with Aroka Spa is easy through the desk staff, and can even be arranged for in-room, with a small adjustment to the price of the service. It's a simple place that nonetheless manages to make our stay special every time.

This is not a typical hostel where there are lots of people living in the same room with a chill vibe, but I like this hostel a lot. Located in the residential area (pretty close to many tourist attractions though), this hostel is adapted from a single-family-detached-home and is run by the Tamura family. The host was a welcoming lady who showed the facilities in detailed once I arrived at the place. In my room (mixed dorm), there're only 4 bunks and 2 of them are empty during my one night stay so it's really great. The bed is cozy, the facilities are good to use and free(like slippers, toothbrush set, towels, water & barley tea etc.) There're two shower room (and one of them is traditional japanese style bathtub. The host prepared warm water for us to use in advance. Not a lot to say but I love the tranquil vibe of the hostel itself as well as the surroundings. If I will revisit Nara again, I'll come here again.
