Location was well out of the way with an amazing lake within a few minutes walk with trials to walk also bit perfect for Wilpattu national park. Food was really nice and the room had everything you could need.

The owner and his son were taking care of us all the time and organized a great safari! It was a full day trip at a very affordable price, We managed to see 3 leopards, bear, elefant, crocodiles, tones of deers, and many, many other species of mammals, reptiles and birds. At night we could hear a lot of animals and it was an extremely peaceful time. The food was delicious and made with love. Absolutely recommended place!

We left for our safari early so sadly did not get to try breakfast, but were very satisfied by the room, and appreciated the warm reception/ extra care the staff gave to our family! While there was no common space (think motel style rooms that spit out onto a outside porch) we were only there one night and it suited our needs well. The safari company was able to pick us up from this location so all worked well.

Very friendly and helpful owners! The accommodation is very clean and spacious with a peaceful terrace. The view on the nearby wetlands is absolutely stunning and can be fully enjoyed from a little tree house (where breakfast/dinner can be served). The owner is willing to drive you to every nearby major attraction (Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, jeep safari,…etc) and able to make bookings at affordable prices (e.g. a jeep safari is significantly cheaper if you let him do the booking) and has lots of interesting, lesser known suggestions to visit. In addition, his wife makes delicious local breakfast, dinner and drinks at very cheap prices. Heavily recommended!

The owners, Leo and Wanda, couldn’t do enough to help our stay go smoothly. They helped shape are itinerary and suggestions additions that were fantastic, eg Sri Lankan dance show at the cultural centre, organising a fabulous yoga teacher, as well as great safari. Relaxed and happy vibe to the place with lovely pool area.

We had an amazing host, Wasanta.He arranged a car from Colombo when we realized there are no trains due to long running engineering work. The car driver, Lailith, was friendly, knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. The homestay itself was comfortable and we'll located to visit local historical sites. We ate breakfast and dinner here each day...vegetarian on our request. All delicious and authentic Sri Lankan. The room had a mosquito net and ac. There was free water provided from a water dispenser in the communal area. Lailith also drove us in his tuk tuk to Minitale and around ancient Anuradhapura. His knowledge really added to the experience. Wasanta was equally knowledgeable, spoke excellent English and was very approachable. He arranged a safari to Wilpattu National Park. He taxied us there and back, arranged an excellent safari jeep driver with homemade breakfast and lunch provided. The highlight was seeing a leopard but also lots of other species of animal. Wasanta also arranged a taxi to Haberana with a wonderful Dambulla excursion on the way. We would highly recommend the homestay.

We had a wonderful stay at Sweet Home Tourist Rest, Cooking Classes & Tours. The comfort level was top-notch — everything was clean, spacious, and thoughtfully arranged. We were pleasantly surprised to find that our room came with its own living room, making it feel like a full apartment rather than just a guest room. For a very reasonable price, we had a completely private space to ourselves, which we really appreciated. The location is also ideal — the area is peaceful and quiet, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. A special thanks to Nilukshan, who organized some truly extraordinary tours for us, including the Wilpattu safari, and visits to Anuradhapura and Mihintale. Each one was memorable and perfectly arranged, giving us deep insights into the history and beauty of the region. We also took part in a cooking class conducted by Malsha, which was another highlight of our stay. The class was hands-on, fun, and absolutely delicious — we learned a lot and enjoyed every moment. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area — it’s more than just accommodation, it’s an experience!
