After staying at many small Sri Lankan independent hotel / guest houses, from the very north to the south this is undoubtedly the best. One of 2 reviews from me as most other being average: This place is perfectly run, perfectly maintained, great pool and great breakfasts! The evening restaurant offers a mix of Italian and Sri Lankan dishes and after a few weeks traveling nothing beats a homemade Lasagna with a glass of Red! The Beach at 2 mins away is also nr perfect. Even with the rough seas experienced on this coast there is a northern corner that is calm enough to enjoy a good swim. Well done team and Gaby, you run a great establishment. I hope to return with many friends. T

The most lovely retreat on a lesser known but equally beautiful beach. It felt like a home away from home with tea, coffee, water, fruit available in the day and lovely breakfasts in the mornings. Near to a couple of restaurants and a bakery a small walk away. Great pool and loungers on the beach and a stunning sea view. The host and his team were very friendly and accommodating of any queries we had. We changed our booking to only one night but definitely wished we could have stayed longer.

The room was super nice and clean. Just a few steps from the very nice und not busy beach. Bunty and his team are very kind people and help you with everything they can. They arranged us a scooter and surf lessons during our stay in Tallala. We really enjoyed it!!

I had the perfect stay at Mango House. It's a lovely house tucked behind the road into Talalla with a pretty garden & lovely seating area. The room was very comfortable with a large bathroom, nice bedding & a good mosquito net. It was especially nice to have a desk & chair. Breakfasts were delicious & an extra treat to watch the monkeys on their daily route to the roof tops. The family were so kind and accommodated my early rising for yoga with delicious juices : ) and I met some other lovely guests. They truly made us feel at home and very welcome. I was sorry I'd not discovered dinner was possible until my last night - my friend and I were served a delicious selection of curries. Such a pleasure to meet this lovely family & to share their home. They really cared that you had a good stay. The beach is just a short walk away & great shop nearby too. Great value and a warm welcome for the budget traveller.

Small but very clean room with a small patio looking to the garden. You can watch monkeys, squirrels, birds. Very comfortable bed. Guesthouse is in a quiet location and 2 minutes walk to beautiful Talalla beach. Very friendly owners, very friendly locals. Nelka cooks delicious food and she let me watch her cooking as i wanted to learn how to cook the vegetable curry and dal. I ate almost all my meals there. There are no ATMs or money exchange facilities in the village so Lakshman gave me a ride on his motorbike to Matara to exchange money and look for an ayurvedic medicine I needed. The grandmother is also very sweet. Overall, if you are looking for an authentic Sri Lankan stay, this is the place. I felt like staying with relatives. Sad to leave.

This property is in an ideal location in the heart of Talalla beach area and 2 minutes from the actual beach! I liked amount of private space that came with the booking. I loved the hot water for my shower (not always available in a rented room in Talalla). The hammock on the balcony was my favourite place to relax! The food made for me for breakfast was incredible! The hosts couldn’t do enough in an attempt to make my stay as comfortable as possible. Genuinely lovely people!!

Gabi, the owner, is very kind and welcoming - always ready to help you! The rooms are spotless, well equipped and they are well isolated so the room keeps a good temperature even without using the AC. The basic breakfast provides fresh products and a good presentation. Finally the location is 2-3 minutes walking distance to the beach - on top of that you can also use the swimming pool.
