Weissenkirchen is an absolutely fantcastic place right in the heart of Wachau. The landscape and architecture are amazing. The city is full of history and at the same time very contemporary and nicely kept. Explore the many narrow lanes and foothpaths and make sure to taste the local specialities and drinks in the many "Heurigens" in Weissenkirchen. If you are into Wine this is definitely one of the best places to go in Austria. My favourites were white wines, namely the Rieslings and Grüner Veltliners. The white wines are rated in three classes: For me it works out this way: Starting a good dinner with a light Steinfeder as an apperitive, followed by a Federspiel for the main course and crowned by the full bodied Smaragd with remarkable bouquet and taste together with the amazing Marillenknödel as dessert.

Located in the heart of the Wachau region, Weißenkirchen is perfectly situated for excursions to Spitz, Dürnstein, Krems, and other places of interest. Particularly noteworthy are the beautiful natural bathing beach, the romantic garden of the Heuriger Mang wine tavern, and the charming Café Elisabeth with its delicious apricot ice cream sundae.

It's my favorite area. The absolute heart of Wachau. Right after arriving, we always buy a bottle of chilled wine and go to the vineyards, where we sit, drink excellent wine and look at the beautiful view of the entire valley. Then we have a snack in the yard or cellar of one of the local winemakers. Everything is completely homemade, high-quality and pleasant. It's an oasis of peace...

Weißenkirchen is a fantastic destination, centrally located in the Wachau region. The town offers numerous accommodation options as well as restaurants and traditional wine taverns (Heurigen). The well-known towns from Krems to Melk are easily accessible by train or bus, with hourly service. Weißenkirchen lies directly on the Danube Cycle Path and the World Heritage Trail through the vineyards.

Weissenkirchen is a small village in the beautiful Danube valley, and Ur-Wachau lies at its centre. It is close to great restaurants and vineyards, superb walking, and there is a decent bus service along the valley. You can also join a river cruise here if you wish. The hotel is fabulous, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the style uses local antique furniture which makes it very characterful. Herr and Frau Roisl are excellent hosts, laying on a superb buffet breakfast, and very happy to make recommendations.

The breakfast room is so lovely and bright with views of the Danube. Breakfast is really exceptional, a wonderful choice of everything, even a different cake each day.....hard to resist! regarding the Hotel location, right on the Danube, a swimming park area just opposite with a shower and toilets. No need to drive! the 715 bus 5 mins walk goes to Krems or Melk. We will visit this Hotel again in the future.

The family managing the hotel was amazing and highly accommodating! Best morning breakfast spread we had up till this stretch of our trip. Room is cozy and clean. Do ask for a fan/ventilator if it is a little too warm for your liking.
