United StatesWe loved our stay and were so happy that we chose this quaint, private lodging option as it was surrounded by lovely forest and so much more affordable than the basic cabins at more posh resorts. It was less than 1/2 hour drive to Cradle Mountain hiking area but watch for animals at dusk - they are everywhere :) We stayed in the Quoll cabin and loved having two tables/chair set ups outside the main door and large window. Each day we were greeted by pademelons and a chorus of song birds. The cabin was well stocked, bedding super comfortable and the whirlpool bath / hottub was amazing after completing a long hike. The heating system was super efficient. The kitchen (equipped with a microwave and small fridge) was outfitted with everything we needed for simple meals. Check in process was super easy and there are a couple of new cafes on the corner offering amazing coffee at Blue Tree Gallery which also features a lovely array of local artisan products. The staff at nearby Cradle Gateway Cafe were super friendly but the breakfast sandwich and coffee was quite basic - they do offer dinner for pickup which is a nice option.

Some people would not like the 8 kilometres of winding...
Some people would not like the 8 kilometres of winding gravel road in the to the resort but it wasn't a problem for us being rural dwelling Tasmanians and it was in good condition. This is part and parcel of staying at a wilderness retreat. The cabin was warm and comfortable and the in cabin spa was a bonus after a chilly day at Cradle Mountain. Food was adequate and well cooked especially the Bush Breakfast. Staff were cheerful and efficient. We would love to stay again.Guest review byBoultonAustralia - 8.0

Nice location and rooms. No nearby evening restaurants, so we took all our own food, but there were limited cooking facilities. A quiet secluded spot, definitely back to nature.
A quiet secluded spot, definitely back to nature. Plenty of wildlife particularly at night, plenty of birds during the daytime. Close to cradle mountain to explore if you want but plenty of walks close by, not all easy but some are duckboards. Great breakfast included and good selection and delicious dinner options in the restaurant. Microwave in your room, but I wouldn’t plan on driving in/out at night, good road but in places quite narrow so passing at night would be interesting.Guest review byYvonneAustralia

Al a carte menu for dinner had variety with healthy choices. Breakfast which was included in the price was very good. Facilities inside as good as top star hotel. Maintaining such an excellent facility so deep into the woods is extraordinary. Though there were choices for bush walking, did not venture out as it was a bit late in the evening. Wombat Cabin is rustic, remote, quiet, but with electricity and hot water! Extra breakfast groceries provided gave us more eating flexibility - much appreciated.
