Fantastic location, room was very comfy, and the facilities were modern. The hotel itself is great, but the bar restaurant and beach club is awesome. Positioned right on the lake with beautiful views, sunbeds, an artificial beach, a bar and the food and wine was exceptional. The owner really thought about what he was putting together with this place and I would not hesitate to stay here again. It was exceptional, if you want a place to stay which is a little quieter but still has a bit of action about it, then this is the place.

A wonderful location with stunning views over Lake Maggiore. An excellent, dog-friendly restaurant with stylish menus. Glad there was a lift for my husband to use: the dog and I climbed many steps to acces the garden as the hotel is perched on a ridge. However, the space was very cleverly used with quiet areas as well as a lovely terrace with a bar.

Everything was just perfect - the location literally 2 min walk from the station yet in a quiet street with an amazing view in the lake. All rooms are modern, spacious, comfortable with a balcony and a view. Even the rooms on the first floor are quiet with a lovely view on the lake and on flowers. The staff was super nice and efficient. Walking distance to the station, center and walks around the lake. We loved it so mix that we extended by one night.

Small town on Lake Maggiore with good excursion opportunities to Lake Como (George Clooney Villa), Balconies of Italy, to Lugano (Monte San Salvatore panorama platform), Vira itself - for jam jumping (from Jam's Bond film "GoldenEye"), to the suspension bridge, Panorama di Cardada and Cimetta and everything else.

What we liked best was the well-maintained garden, the absolute peace and quiet, the very friendly staff, and the fantastic view. A superb hotel! Thank you! Since there's no shouting, just absolute peace and quiet, it's very relaxing. (Except for the guest with his loud business meeting right in the middle of the terrace – but there are always those kinds of people...)

I liked the tranquility.

I liked the tranquility. However, we always ended up spending the day elsewhere because there are few or no services (no shops, maybe a bar), and walking options are very limited unless you take a car. The northern exposure doesn't help...

Bellavista's location was excellent.

Bellavista's location was excellent. A bus stop right outside the door! Boat connections to Locarno and Ascona. Tip: Grotto Baldoria in Ascona (only one set menu is offered). Highlight: Indemini, the church by Mario Botta in Mogno/Maggia Valley.

A week's holiday at the Hotel/Restaurant LA VIRA is wonderful. There's a lovely lawn right by the lake. The food in the evening is good, and the service is friendly. The room with a lake view (room 4) is simple but sunny and quiet.

Getting there by car is no problem.

Getting there by car is no problem. There is a bus stop at the Hotel Belvedere, but connections are very limited in the evenings. You can quickly reach Locarno, Ascona, or take a boat to the Brissago Islands.

Beautiful stay over looking Lake Maggiore. Beautuful hotel with lovely swimming pool and relaxing area. The hotel is located high up, and as a result, there are beautiful views of the lake and the city of Locarno across the way. Continental breakfast was beautiful, loads of choice. Would highly recommend this accommodation.
