Boat trip up the San Carlos river to the Nicaraguan border. Lovely local guide Alan, who also took us on a night hike in the jungle. All organised through the Lodge.

One of those rare 10/10 hotels! We had an amazing time at this lodge and can only recommend it. Our bungalow was so beautiful, the restaurant has an amazing view and good food. So much food is homemade or homegrown. All the tours we did were great and super easy to organize. The amount of birds you can see from the restaurant is amazing. So much nature to see on their own paths, would definetely recommend a guided walk to make the most out of it. Very friendly staff. Great massage directly above the water. It all felt very luxurious and high end, but gave us lots of easy access to beautiful nature and wildlife.

The staff was super friendly. The food at the restaurant was some of the best we had in CR. Hugo was a great tour guide, very knowledgeable. We saw incredible birds (boat-billed herons, green parrots, aras, and many more) and took a boat trip to the border of Nicaragua. On the way, we even saw a crocodile mother with 4 tiny babies.

Ficus house - close to Boca Tapada - is a place surrounded by nature, so you can easily watch wildlife directly in front of your door. The host Louis was very friendly. He helped us to organize a boat tour and a rainforest hike with the experienced guide Christian, this was fantastic. There is also a restaurant close by where you can eat or get some refreshments.

Boca Tapada Inn is set in Boca Tapada. This apartment offers free private parking and full-day security. The apartment has family rooms.

With mountain views, La Laguna del Lagarto Eco-Lodge is situated in Pital and has a restaurant, a tour desk, bar, garden and terrace.

perfect location at the jungle. good food as buffet. children are welcome too. reasonable prices considering to be in the middle of nowhere. tours were nice too, can recommend the night walk and caiman tour, haven’t done anything else. free Kanu at the lagoon. access to the lodge is not as difficult than thought. route 205 is fully sealed and last but unsealed but manageable by car.

What a geat and special experience with this family owned place! TOP! We had the Bungalow wirh river view with partly open roof (no rain inside possible). At 5 o'clock you can experience the jungle noices which was really worth it. You are not here to sleap long in the morning, you are here to experience real Costa Rica! What a great experience! This is nothing for a wimpy person and person who are scared of local people. If you want it like home, then please stay at home. If you want something special and the experiece of you life, go for it. The pool and garden was very clean and you can observe birds while swimming. The family is superfriendly and courteous. For breakfast, you can aks for everything and they try their best. Our breakfast was great. Alan who speaks English, is so keen to answer all the questions you have. You can book tours right there and Alan acompanies the tours with explanations in English. Even a neighbour explained me some flower's names while walking along the river and the children waved us from school while walking in the little village. So authentic! Thank you. This was the best place in Costa Rica I met.

Beautiful accommodation with well maintained public spaces (pool, breakfast area, walkways) all set in lovely rain forest gardens. Great hosts, and we can highly recommend the rain forest guided walk with Henry. Lots of birds!
