We stayed at The Retreat in December and had a fantastic time. The Irish owner (we can’t remember his name) was really welcoming and did his best to make every guest feel at home. You can tell that he truly loves the island, his job and has a passion for hospitality. The meals in the evening were tasty and copious. Nothing was too much in terms of dietary requirements. Dinners were shared as a group which was really handy to get to know people and share experiences and best treks. On the last morning we were going back to the harbour and he gave us a lift. Thank you for a lovely time, we hope to be back at the Retreat soon as it was our favourite place on this beautiful island.

Clean and really nice facilities. Great views, a community swimming pool around the corner. Local business ran by a very sweet family. They also have a restaurant with the best chef and food we’ve met in the island! You can walk to many beautiful places from here, ask the staff for suggestions.

This is probably the best hotel on the island of Santo Antao. The whole thing makes you feel like you're in a castle. The owner is very helpful, she takes care of every detail of your stay. Although my room wasn't perfect I got a better room for the same price - for which I am very grateful. From the hotel you have an ideal point for mountain hiking to any place. Breakfasts are very tasty, everyone will find something for themselves. Erick was very helpful and always smiling during meals. This is an amazing place and an amazing island. Obrigado!

This place is such a gem! Great location, lovely renovated, unbelievably helpful staff. We would have stayed longer if we didnt already book our next accomodation. On top of that, they organised a birthday breakfast for my husband, including a cake and helped us out with everything you can imagine. Increadably thoughtful (down to earplugs next to out bed in case there would be noise during the night - which there was not). Cannot recommend it more!
