Berlin is a very easy city to get around in, the public transportation is amazing and easy to maneuver. I loved the sites, history, and different neighborhoods to see. Fall is an ideal time to visit I think. It's not an overly crowded city and doesn't feel stressful as a tourist which I really liked. I got stolen 30 euros from here by a woman asking or donations to help deaf children.. I meant to give only 10, but she swipped a 20 euro bill out of my hands and refused to give it back. Had to skip dinner because of that! History is amazing, but aside from the historical sites (brandenburg, victory column, cathedral, palace), the city was not pretty at all. Honestly, it looked like Chicago had sprinkles of Washington DC. Using the public transit system is NOT intuitive at all, and I would probably have gotten lost if I didn't meet anyone who spoke english. Metro stations are also lined with scary people who are homeless, on drugs, drunk, etc. City is insanely cold and very windy. If you are a solo female traveler, I would NOT recommend! It’s beautiful to see the city and felt also the pain of what happen in the past. But so happy I finally visited the memorial wall. The Brandenburg gate was amazing to stand tall. So happy to found Burger King and have my chicken nuggets…so many nice restaurants but I don’t know the food so I stick to what’s familiar to me. Berlin is a very beautiful and impressive city, lots of activities for couples and families, lots of historical sites despite the history. There are always shows and lots of museums, plenty of food from all different sources. Not boring at all.A city like Berlin is so beautiful that you really need to take a half-day guided tour to understand it. Recommend a travel pass for the trains/subways/buses /trams as there are quite complex ‘rules’ - validating tickets and range of choices is quite complicated.
