    Overall amazing, you can just google stuff and see the beautiful sights. The only issue which most travelers will see it as a problem is lack of Uber or other apps. You have to talk to taxi centres to dispatch you one, and 4 out of 5 of them don't speak any English.

    We were not in Dreden very long, and I would have loved to explore the city a little more, but all in all, the city was clean and very historic, which I love. I would very much recommend other (young) tourists traveling in Germany.

    In early September the city was busy without feeling...

    In early September the city was busy without feeling overcrowded. The great majority of tourists seemed to be German. Highly recommend the paddle steamer trips on the Elbe - we went to Meissen and returned by train. The two art galleries - the Albertinum and the Alte Meister in the Zwinger are excellent - with a good selection of Caspar David Friedrich and his contemporaries. It's extraordinary to look at the all the elegant C18th. architecture now and to compare it with the blackened ruins of 1945. Even more extraordinary to think that much of the reconstruction was don by the GDR. Well worth a day trip to Leipzig too - vibrant city, very different in feel from Dresden.

    Excellent tram and local train networks.

    Excellent tram and local train networks. Day tickets are good value (discount for ages 60+) but beware the zonal boundaries. City centre particularly attractive when fewer people around - early morning and dusk. Steam paddle boats are magnificent.

    This hotel was easy to find and in the perfect location for visiting Old Town Dresden. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was parking below the hotel which was very convenient. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. The bar was nice to visit in the lobby and the breakfast was wonderful with many options and open seating. It was easy to walk/Ubahn to the city center. The price for this hotel was excellent.

    Directly opposite Dresden Hbf. and a 2 min. walk to the main shopping area in Pragerstrasse. 15 min walk to the old town or even quicker by one of the frequent and modern trams which stop almost outside the hotel.     This was a very spacious room in a stylish old building, in a family run hotel. It was in a convenient location a very pleasant walk from the old town and close to one of Dresden’s main railway stations. The owner was very friendly and helpful and we conversed in German and English.
