You only go here if you have to. As a tourist, you have no business here. The architecture is generally depressing, and the town center has nothing worth mentioning. A highlight: the municipality has four power plants and a huge lignite mine.

Grevenbroich has a number of interesting spots...the parks (former state garden show grounds), the castle, Langwaden Monastery, etc. However, the city center (pedestrian zone and Montanushof) is often quite deserted, even on Saturdays.

We spent a total of one afternoon and one night there. Any longer and I think it would have gotten boring. The area is beautiful for walking and cycling. Otherwise, there isn't much to do besides the scenery.

The town itself seems deserted, but there are some very nice...

The town itself seems deserted, but there are some very nice cafes and restaurants. You can spend a few pleasant hours, especially at "Extrablatt." There are lovely walking paths in the surrounding area, a great city park with a wildlife enclosure along the Erft River, and numerous castles nearby! There's direct access to the motorway, so you can get anywhere quickly.

Grevenbroich is a great starting point for trips to the major cities of Cologne, Düsseldorf, and Mönchengladbach; Aachen and the Netherlands are also easily accessible. I enjoy walking on the Vollrather Höhe, in the wooded area, on the Welchenberg, and along the Erft river.

Fantastic hotel for cycle travellers. Friendly staff, easy check in and bike storage inside the hotel. Very comfortable room and breakfast was plentiful and varied. Definitely recommend, with short walk to pedestrian mall and restaurants.
