We initially booked the hotel Alpenstuben, but unfortunately it was closed for seasonal maintenance. Luckily we didn't have to rebook as they moved us to sister hotel villa ludwig. It's hard to know where to start and to find the words to describe this family run hotel. OK, beautiful building in the very best location, I mean the views are amazing. I can honestly say that the rooms we had for a family of five were the best, biggest, cleanest and most comfortable I have stayed in for a very very long time. The owners/staff are equally as special, pleasant, very helpful with advice, booking tickets for our castle tour etc. Finally, breakfast was perfect and plentiful. We would love to go back in the snow.

The SPA experience was amazing, didn’t have many people so felt comfortably fine. The memory mattresses were cool. The breakfast was super tasty!!! I wish to come back with my family again. I did not enter any of the castles or museums. I had done that 50 years ago, as a student in Munich. I liked just walking around, soaking up the tourist vibe, predominantly Chinese. I even liked the rainy-sunny mix of weather, so characteristic of the Allgaue region.

The village is a prime example of a "tourist village".

The village is a prime example of a "tourist village". Everything closes very early on, you see almost no locals, only hotels and restaurants. In spite of that, it still gives you a nice german feeling and experience, and the whole area is super clean, secure and just dreamy. I suggest everyone to take a bycicle or walk to get around, and try the Schlossbrau restaurant.

I liked the walk ability to the castles. The tours were just okay- guides to both castles did not speak great English (on the English tour) so it was difficult to get much out of the tours…. But the area is beautiful and you can swim in the lake!

Central location convenient for visiting the two castles.

Central location convenient for visiting the two castles. There is nothing there apart from a series of hotels and a few restaurants. Even so, much more conventient than staying further out and paying for parking etc. For more amenties and activities apart form the castles try Fussen, 15 minutes away

This city is amazing and the people are so nice.

This city is amazing and the people are so nice. I had all good experiences during my stay in the area. The Castle Hohenschwangau is worth a visit as well. Most people just go to Neuschwanstein, but please visit the Hohenschwangau Castle as well. Do not eat at the Hotel Muller Bistro quick snack place. The Jumbo hot dog was terrible, and I had an ache in my stomach the rest of the day. Eat at one of the sit down restaurants!

Woman from reception was completely stressed out wich is unpleasant if you have just traveled so we didn't feel very welcome when checking in. After 17:00 not possible to eat anything. Bad WIFI and breakfast ( no fruit) that was not what you expect fir this price. Rooms did not have insulated walls. Perfect distance from the Neuschwanstein castle ( only 200 meters)

Perfectly located for a visit to the Neuschwanstein castle with views from the hotel overlooking the castle itself. Unfortunately for us the day we stayed had very low cloud and our view was obscured! But the room was clean and comfortable with good selection of cold breakfast choices. Great place to stay for our one night stopover on the way to Slovenia.

Location of the hotel is great if you are planning to visit the castles. Sleeping in a room with Neuschwanstein Castle and being in the area after the day tourists are gone is really special. Being able to have early bird tickets for the castles is also great. Our room was also very spacious with a clean interior and good bathroom as well.

Location was perfect, just a few minutes walk from Hohenschwangau centre. Could see the castle from the balcony as described. Private parking was included. The room was large and had character and the shower was excellent.

Central location. Hohenschwangau castle view from the room, Neuschwanstein castle view from the restaurant. Comfortable room,free water, the,cafe in the rum; tasty breakfast and foods. Hungarian staff were very kind.
