Had two wonderful days in this lovely hotel. The room was very comfortable and had a nice view. Calm, cozy, and perfectly located in the medieval district, with a forest nearby for walks. The breakfast was great, and the owner was the nicest person, he even helped us when our car wouldn’t start. Highly recommended!

You are given a unit to yourself, which is basically a double story house. There is a TV and kitchen and 2 bathrooms. The shower and bathtub were both quite fancy with various settings and great water pressure. The windows all had the automatic outside blinds which assisted in keeping the room dark and at a good temperature. It was also close to city centre, which was great as we walked everywhere.

This hotel has been redecorated / refurbished recently, everything is so clean, so tastefully furnished, shower fantastic, bed comfortable. I arrived a little later than check-in due to DB trains putting me 2 hours behind schedule, but that was n9 problem for the staff. I didn't eat in the restaurant because I was too tired but the menu looked very good value. There is a cheap on-site sauna. Beer garden. The breakfast is one of the best I've had in ages with so much choice and the server is just too good and too happy for that time of the morning! I stayed in 2 rooms and the quality was consistent. The hotel is less than 10 minutes walk from DB and HSB teain stations.

We didn't see much of Osterwieck due to our short holiday. Other sights were more important to us. We had dinner at the Hotel & Restaurant "Brauner Hirsch" in the evening.

We had booked a tour guide and learned a lot about Osterwiek. Unfortunately, it's a sleepy little town. With so many old houses, there's definitely room for improvement in terms of tourism. An ice cream parlor on the market square, especially in the warm weather we had, would have been a real draw.

The place must have been very beautiful a long time ago. Now there are a few beautifully restored houses, but unfortunately many completely dilapidated buildings. To us, Osterwieck seemed deserted, practically dead.

Osterwieck itself is a small, manageable village.

Osterwieck itself is a small, manageable village. It's very quiet there. However, if you really want to explore and experience the Harz Mountains, you'll have to travel a bit further. The Hexentanzplatz (Witches' Dance Floor) in Thale or the beautiful town of Wernigerode are highly recommended.

Despite some unrenovated buildings, Osterwieck is a wonderful half-timbered town. Unfortunately, the number of shops, cafes, and restaurants there is dwindling, sometimes disappearing altogether. It's a shame. Perhaps Osterwieck doesn't advertise enough and hides behind Quedlinburg and the towns in the Harz Mountains; the selection in Blankenburg, for example, isn't any better.
