We stayed in Getaria as a base to enjoy all of the surrounding areas. It was well situated between towns. We saw a soccer game in Bilbao one night and drove to France the next day. In Getaria you have a wide range of restaurants to choose from, and lively tapas bars , a very good outdoor bar overlooking the harbor . Safe beaches to swim , very clean. An "ok" place to use as a base for day-trips in the Bilbao/San Sebastian area. However, Getaria is a very small village. Other than a beach and restaurants, there's not much to do. Having said that, it is an excellent location as a base to visit the many, many other areas/sites in this Northern Spain area. The host was very nice and helpful and gave us lots of great recommendations. The flats are very nice, modern and clean. There is actually nothing missing. There is a small well stocked supermarket 50m across the road. Each flat has its own parking space in an underground garage a few meters from the flat.
