This is a wonderful place to stay both short term and long term. We really loved everything about it. Alejandra, is fantastic, and created a spectacular experience for 2 weary Camino Pilgrims. The food was beyond compare, and the facility is extremely clean. The location on the Camino is perfect and the town is lovely. We will definitely be back!

It's a small mountain village, surrounded by nature and full...

It's a small mountain village, surrounded by nature and full of houses along the Camino de Santiago. It's quite remote and seems a bit far at first. Then I got used to driving the winding road and discovered new routes into Navarre from France. In the end, it seemed like a good starting point for exploring the region.

We didn't stay long and the town, being small, didn't visit much. The area is quiet and ideal for covering northern Navarre and French Navarre (Lower Navarre). We went on excursions and rested at the accommodation.

The surroundings are beautiful.

The surroundings are beautiful. The village is small and strategically located near the French border, so staying here can be convenient if you're combining a trip through the Navarrese region of the Irati Forest and Roncesvalles with the French Basque Country.

A small and welcoming mountain village. The people are very friendly. There are restaurants and shops. Its best feature is the surrounding area; you can take short, easy walks but also climb larger, more challenging mountains.

I ended up at ETXEALE because I unexpectedly got sick during my pilgrimage, and needed to stay in Valcarlos a couple of nights. And I was so happy I did! Alejandra was wonderful, cooking great food and giving me tea with homemade ginger and honey for my cough. She is truly an amazing host. Everything was clean and beautiful (and smelled absolutely lovely), and the view of the mountains from my room was unreal, looked like a painting. I really wanted to stay for longer because I felt so relaxed, like I was on a retreat <3

Fabulous property in Valcarlos! Situated at the end of the town, but within a short distance from the end of the Camino leg. Very efficient check-in, lots of information given & some condiments in the fridge to purchase, if desired! Loved the honesty aspect of it all….. If heading to Valcarlos, then deffo look up this place, you will not be disappointed.

This is an elegant and comfortable guesthouse. It is a traditional house but recently renovated. Our room was large and had its own sink with water. Bathroom is shared. Alejandra is a warm host. We had a delicious breakfast. This is an excellent place to stay on the Valcarlos route of the Camino Frances, or for a holiday in the mountains.
