Fine dining and superb jazz - what a great idea. Spa Hotel Runni is situated next to a meandering river, beautiful location. The "jazz menu" was a delight- 2 starters, a main course of braised salmon and 2 contrasting desserts. The two chefs provided a gourmet experience. Then a wonderful jazz concert by a trio led by the virtuoso, Iiro Rantala. All in all, a perfect evening. Saturday's brunch was also great, the normal hotel breakfast selection complemented by a large selection of cakes - the Sacher cake was perfect. Hopefully, this will be the first of many jazz and fine dining evenings in Runni.

We went for an evening walk and found that the level of plowing was quite poor. The sidewalks were either ankle-deep in snow or very slippery. This was especially inconvenient on the hilly streets along the coast.

We have visited Iisalmi in the summer.

We have visited Iisalmi in the summer. Back then it was a really nice place with its market square and other city attractions. Now we were in the winter, it was really cold. We ate in the public places, at the ABC station and in Marjahaa. Friendly service. There is a lot to see in Iisalmi, driving is easy. I recommend visiting in the summer.

The city is located in the middle of beautiful Finnish lake...

The city is located in the middle of beautiful Finnish lake nature. The cultural center is quite nice and the renovated Upper Savo Homeland Museum has been opened in the city. Suitable for a summer destination. Near the city is the Koljonvirta Battlefield and the Juhani Aho Home Museum. The city is not very large, but is especially suitable for genealogists who want to get to know the family roots of their own ancestors.

Iisalmi is my birthplace, I am 80 years old, I live in Espoo...

Iisalmi is my birthplace, I am 80 years old, I live in Espoo. I meet my sister every year, the city is at its best in the summer. This time our little family celebrated my sister's 85th birthday together by having lunch at the Raatihuone restaurant on Saturday 16.3. Good lunch, friendly service. We had a great time.

The city has a nice atmosphere, the people are relaxed. Everything has been taken care of and the necessary services are available. There are various events. You can also relax on the beach, at the market, sightseeing and eating ice cream, or have a beer without rushing or even exercise while enjoying the beautiful scenery.

The Juhani Aho Museum and the Koljonvirta Battle Nature...

The Juhani Aho Museum and the Koljonvirta Battle Nature Trail are good. So is the Ylä-Savo Homeland Museum. Gustavus Adolphus Church is worth a visit. The Olvi Factory Museum is also good, but it is only open on weekdays (Mon-Fri) in the morning. Olvi did not have a factory store. The market square was lively - vendors and karaoke. Otherwise, Iisalmi is very quiet

Hidden gem of Iisalmi! The staff was really friendly and welcoming, facilities were someting else than what you would expect in this little town. But the real gem is the restaurant! The restaurant hall is a piece of art in itself. The waiter was so friendly and went out of his way to please us. The menue looked very appetizing and the selection had a nice local twist offering local ingredients. The presentation really lived up to expectations, it was delicious!. If eating or staying in Iisalmi, this is the place!
