The Natural Beauty of the French Riviera

Located between the French cities of Nice and Cannes, idyllic Antibes is a coastal town on the Mediterranean Côte d'Azur. With more than 40 sandy and rocky beaches, this destination is the place where the popular James Bond movie ‘Never Say Never Again’ was filmed.

Known 2000 years ago as Antipolis, Antibes is home to the 16th-century Fort Carré. Travellers can wander around the streets of the old town or visit the harbour and admire the traditional fishing boats and yachts floating in the tranquil waters.

The Museum of Picasso and Naval Museum of Napoleon have interesting collections of paintings and historic pieces from another era. The 11th-century Church of Immaculate Conception and the green Exflora Park are some of the must-see attractions of the city.

Overlooking the city and the blue waters of the French Riviera, Garoupe Lighthouse is situated on the top of a hill. The world-renowned summer festival of Jazz à Juan has showcased international jazz music artists since 1960.

Antibes still has some of the flavour of a real town on the French Riviera, as described by Graham Greene so many years ago now. We go again and again. Come in the off-season though. Yesterday (November) the sun was shining, we had our lunch out-of-doors in the warmth, the sea shimmered and the early snow could be seen on the Alps.

Oh my god.

Oh my god. Antibes is probably one of the most beautiful towns i have ever visited. We just loved the food, the beautiful town squares, the friendliness of the people in the shops, The coast is such a quick walk to get to. Will definitley be back as soon as we can.

Antibes is located a few minutes by train from Cannes and...

Antibes is located a few minutes by train from Cannes and about half hour from Nice. It is a smaller community with lots of great views and shops for groceries and restaurants. What was appreciated after the hustle of the larger cities was to return by train or bus to the relatively smaller and quieter community for the evening to settle in or wander by the port or beach front.

Favourite places are: Picasso Museum, private small galleries, Marche de Provence, small squares and streets, harbor and paths along the seashore. We ate in small restaurants and on our own with local foods. Local staff at bus and train stations are not friendly.

The view of the sea and Nice broad walkway along the old town walls and the old town. The train station was three mins our apart hotel at Rue Sadi Carnot, making it easy to travel to nearby places like Villfranche Sur Mer ( 22 mins) , Nice (20 mins) and Cannes (15 mins). we also travelled to St paul De Vence from Cagnes Sur Mer. This is a wonderful hilltop artist village. In Antibes itself there are lots to see. We enjoyed shopping from the Farmers Market and walking the streets like Rue Horologie and others. We would recommend Bistrot Antibois and Cafe Lecan for excellent meals. It is very easy to walk around, so in spite of having a three day pass we did board any bus. A visit to Belle Rive where F Scott Fitzgerald lived while writing Tender Is The Night was another high point.

Antibes is a beautiful place to visit one of this biggest Marina I've ever seen with some of the most fantastic super yachts you will get to see anywhere, the coastal views are amazing with a great walk alomg the coastline. I would more than recommend this lovely place to visit.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Le Collier. It's close proximity to the Antibes train station is very practical when we travelled a lot along the riveria, and the Antibes city center was just 10-15 minutes walk away as well. The staff were very friendly and even remembered us when we came back to pickup the room keys. The hotel and room was very clean, beds were comfortable and they even supplied two type of pillows so you could choose the one that works best for you.

We found that our room was very clean, spacious and had a lovely small balcony with a sea view. We loved having a small fridge in the room also, to keep our drinks & chocolate cool. We found the bed was very comfortable and all the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. A sandy beach is located just opposite the hotel and the old town of Antibes is a mere 10 min walk. A lovely vibrant town. We had a wonderful stay here and would definitely recommend to others.

Fantastic location a short stroll from the main hub of the old town and port. A boutique hotel so rooms are compact (as expected) but everything is very modern and clean. Staff very friendly.
