I could not fault this studio. It was clean with quality furnishings and quality linens/towels. Continuous hot water, coffee/tea/biscuits, heating if needed, plus basic provisions (kitchen and bathroom). The fridge and freezer was a little small but manageable.

There are many beautiful excursions into nature and other places that don't require a car. The tourist information office offers many good tips for hikes and other activities. The town has seen better days (it used to be very wealthy) – as a result, it's well-equipped and accessible by train, but not very touristy.

A small town with little to offer, where everything is closed on Sundays; however, we found a lovely restaurant (Le Grand Balcon) where we had an excellent lunch with very fresh seafood! And at a very reasonable price!

A town with character and an interesting history.

A town with character and an interesting history. There's plenty to see, relax, and stroll around. It's easy to get to and around, with ample parking. Located at the foot of the Montagne Noire, the town offers easy access to hiking trails without having to go too far. There are museums, a good number of restaurants, and two major attractions: Hautpoul and the Himalayan-style footbridge.

When we booked, we read that the pool would be closed.

When we booked, we read that the pool would be closed. Fortunately, that wasn't the case. We were happy to use it. It was very welcome, especially given the high temperatures during our stay.

Mazamet is a pretty little town with a charming, bustling town center, featuring several restaurants both in the town center and on the outskirts. Parking is readily available. It's a well-located town for a stopover or a longer stay, close to the Montagne Noire and its hiking trails.

A devastated city, a ghost town.

A devastated city, a ghost town. On Sunday evening, only one restaurant was open, serving basic food. A museum dedicated to the leather and wool processing industries that once brought prosperity to this city is sorely needed.

Probably the best hotel I have stayed in - lovely family running it, wonderful old room, simply delicious dinner cooked for us (I am vegetarian and I have never had such a fine meal anywhere in France), and a fabulous homemade breakfast with everything, requested by us unreasonably early in the morning. A fine, great value experience.

Extra clean, was able to arrive a bit early to look about town before a nap - and a very generous selection of fruits and breads plus for breakfast. The host also very generously, gave us a ride to Castres this morning when the train from Mazamet was cancelled. Super generous of him.
