The weather wasn't great.
The weather wasn't great. It rained quite a lot and the temperature was up and down. In fact I got a bad cold. But Vence itself and Vence St Paul are beautiful places. Two Medieval towns very well preserved and a pleasure to explore on foot. Unfortunately, the museum was closed and this was a disappointment for me but I did enjoy my visits to the Matisse Chapel in Vence and the Fondation Maeght in Vence St Paul. Vence is a cute little historical town.

The house is absolutely lovely with masses of ‘hygge’ as we say in Denmark and it’s welcoming and comfortably decorated with a lovely relaxing ambiance. The pool is fab. Deep and cooling. Vence is under-rated when compared to its more illustrious neighbours Tourette’s and St Paul de Vence. But it is just as pretty and more interesting in what it offers. I loved its refreshing, rarely-encountered-now simplicity, the yellow walls and terracotta-coloured simple furniture, and I still remember the "Ah!" when I walked through the door and saw the view, which is even more beautiful from the terrace. It was a lovely room to stay in. The hotel offers a lavish, varied buffet breakfast for 14 euro, very good value.
