The owner contacted us in advance and sent us all the info to the apartment including links, photos and videos! The apartment is Fully equipped, all optionals, very technological, everything was working, nice and neat, well furnished, cozy. Large couch, large dinner table, large kitchen, large bathroom… Fresh juice and milk available for free, as well as cereals for breakfast, coffee, sugar, salt…. We had some difficulties checking in with the “door pad” and the owner came straight away to show us how to do. The apartment is extremely quiet and in a nice area with views of the surrounding hills. The tv has a free Netflix account you can use! The bed was very comfortable and the whole apartment very clean. Very recommended!

Selkirk is not particularly special but it is perfectly...

Selkirk is not particularly special but it is perfectly located to visit a myriad of interesting places, the most special being the Tapestry of Scotland in Galashiels. A must see, in my view even better than the Bayeux Tapestry. Melrose, Floors Castle, Peebles and many beautiful gardens are all nearby. Easy access to Edinburgh by road or train. 90 minutes to the wonderful Dumfries House.

A really nice town, lovely square and some interesting shops (although many don't open Monday as well as Sunday). Loch Carron Weavers on an industrial estate well worth a visit to see the tartans. Many Abbeys and stately homes, and nice riverside spots, within easy reach, and mountain areas to the west.

Selkirk is a pleasant, friendly Borders town.

Selkirk is a pleasant, friendly Borders town. There are strong associations with Sir Walter Scott and the town is a good location for visiting other Border sites of interest. Locally there are good walks and several areas of interest in walking distance. Being located in the Southern Uplands the town is quite hilly but the town centre offers easier walking. One downside is that it lies on the A7 a main route so expect some heavy traffic at times through the town centre. Even this can be of benefit as it also means there is a good bus service between Selkirk and Edinburgh as well as bus links to the wider Borders area via Galashiels so there is not necessarily a need for travel by car.

Selkirk had some nice walks.

Selkirk had some nice walks. We did.a forest walk and went around a loch as well. The town has many interesting houses, so we just walked around the town as it was pleasurable and easy to get around. The people in town were friendly and helpful. It was also a good place to stay to just visit other sites nearby. We ate our suppers at Heatherlie House Hotel where we stayed as they had an extensive menu and the food was delicious and not expensive. A truly memorable stay and visit.

The hotel was closed when we arrived and opened when check-in started at 4pm. The staff member at check-in was very helpful and we were aware when booking that there were very limited facilities such as no bar and no dinner service but that was fine as we'd made alternative arrangements. We had a twin room which was large and the bathroom/shower were good. Beds were a little soft for our comfort but that's a personal thing. We had breakfast which was fine and cooked to order.

Sonny was an excellent host. Starting with a with a warm welcome to the hotel, Sonny's knowledge of the history of the hotel and surrounding area gave a glimpse back in time. The decor of the hotel is very traditional, warm and inviting. The breakfast was wonderful. It was a traditional Scottish breakfast served in a beautifully decorated warm, inviting dining room. The service was friendly and the food was excellent.

Characterful traditional pub in a remote location. Not a flashy boutique hotel, but an old fashioned country venue with geat value food and well stocked selection of malt whiskey. Ideal for bikers, walkers and cyclists. Upmarket is isn't, but comfy and friendly it is.
