Am amazing, relaxing, lovely property. You walk into a wonderful smelling lobby to smiling staff, ready to welcome you in a VIP way. We loved the Attenborough suite as 1 adult and 2 filèrent, lovely comfortable bed and sofa bed, nice tea kitchen and huge bathroom. Beautiful decor and just super cozy room. Modern, refreshing, relaxing, high class. Coop grocery store 2 minutes walk away is quite ok, local pub the Waterman fairly decent with nice staff. 15 minute walk to Cambridge center via Jesus Green.

Get ready to feel the magic of sleeping at a Cambridge college! From the main entrance's amazing layout to the welcoming check-in, followed by a delightful short walk across the gardens to my room.. it was amazing from the start. It is the perfect accommodation if you are travelling for work purposes, the room is well thought out (I stayed in a single ensuite room), great layout with plenty of natural light, faces the Darwin garden, comfy bed and pillows, and functional desk. There is a communal small kitchen area, where you can use the fridge. I stayed for 3 nights during summer holidays, so it was quiet (something I truly appreciated). The bathroom was compact but functional. It is central, with plenty of supermarkets/restaurants/stores within walking distance. I slept wonderfully! The room was always superbly tidy (thank you, Wendy!) All staff is smiley and easy to talk to! I slept wonderfully! If I return to Cambridge, I will definitely try to stay here again!

FAQs about hotels in Cambridge

The Inspiration for Genius

Open-plan and open-minded, Cambridge is best known for university colleges dating to the 13th century. King’s College is the most popular, and its chapel choir is internationally famous. Although accessed from cobbled King’s Parade, it is best viewed from a punt on The Backs, the part of the River Cam behind.

Cambridge punting is an institution and gives great views of Queen’s College Mathematical Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs at St John’s College. Upstream is Jesus Green, site of an outdoor pool and a fantastic beer festival. Next to this is Midsummer Common, a park home to the annual Strawberry Fair (and the occasional cow). Opposite are the college boathouses - get up early to see the rowers in action!

Cows also roam the Mill Pond meadow, where the river leads south to Grantchester, a quaint village with a lovely cafe. Places to eat in Cambridge include riverside restaurants and typical English pubs like The Eagle, drinking hole of DNA founders Watson & Crick.

Cambridge shopping options include a daily market (in Market Square), the Grafton Centre and the exclusive Grand Arcade, the latest addition. The Scott Polar Museum and free Fitzwilliam Museum are 2 of many fantastic Cambridge museums.

Stansted Airport is connected by train to the city’s accommodation choices on Booking.com.

I lived in Cambridge for a couple of years in the mid-60s,...

I lived in Cambridge for a couple of years in the mid-60s, during which time I did not get around to doing any of the tourist bits, being too busy with everyday life & thinking I could do it later! My oldest Granddaughter is now studying at Cambridge University & I managed to visit her there late this year - short stay because we are both busy. As is not uncommon, I find, I managed to pack in more 'tourist sightseeing & experiences' in the short period of my visit in Nov 2025 than in the whole of the time I lived there, visiting my granddaughter's college in the university, walking through the extensive parks & the thing I most wanted to do but had not done before: punting on the Cam, my granddaughter reclining in the back of the vessel, taking photos (but none for public consumption). Yes, many parts of Cambridge are well worth visiting, though some domestic housing, & routine shopping areas, are unattractive. It is easy to walk around the the attractive areas of interest to tourists. There are some beautiful old buildings, places of historic & architectural importance & many open scenic areas, all concentrated in a relatively compact area in the city centre, with plenty of good places to eat, drink &/or be merry.

First time visiting Cambridge. We enjoyed.

First time visiting Cambridge. We enjoyed. It's a lovely city with lots to see and clearly lots of history and character. We were only there for a short visit (i day in the city) so can't really comment in detail. We were visiting Bletchley Park in Milton Keynes on the way home so Cambridge was a good stop over for a bit of sightseeing too. We had booked to see a Gig in the Corn Exchange but it was cancelled last minute....so we never got to see the venue. Hey ho eh?

Used to love Cambridge but this visit shows that it is now not the place it was. Luckily we were just visiting our son who works there. Maybe tourists would like it but we're not really looking with those eyes. To us it seemed overcrowded and manically busy. Ice skating Arena in a quiet area near the park and ride, was a good place for a family visit.

Apart from being almost overwhelmed by the tourists (and it was mid-November) it was great. Just making your way along the pavements was difficult and when crossing the street, the bicycles are a threat. The university premises have wonderful architecture but you can't see much of it because it's closed to the public during term time.

Small and compact, - ideal for exploring on foot. University buildings dominate the landscape, blended with pleasant open spaces and river views. Contrasting central area offers the usual range of shopping, nightlife etc. Overall, projects the intellectual character you would expect with its museums etc where I would have spent weeks if I had that long!

Room was excellent - lovely panoramic views of the Cambridge Meadows and spires. Lots of room, quality mattress and sheets - quiet and comfortable. Couldn't enjoy breakfast as jet lag took hold and we missed it - and when we did try the restaurant it was closed for 'deep cleaning'. However it did re-open a little later but again the ship had sailed by then and we went to a local pub of which there are many. It's a lovely hotel, boutique style, but we didn't really get to enjoy it for the one night. Great location though!

This guest house is perfect for a couple of nights. We were at a concert in Cambridge and we were torn between getting a train there or driving and having the problem of parking. This guesthouse provided parking and breakfast for half the price of some hotels in the city centre so was the ideal solution. Took about 35mins to walk into the centre and the can back was under £10. It was easy to check in and out, the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a nice bonus.

Great location, very easy to walk into Cambridge city centre from the hotel.. Rooms were very clean. Staff were absolutely lovely - very helpful and welcoming. They kindly stored our luggage after check out and leant my friend a phone charger which was much appreciated. We went on a brilliant walking tour and a group punting trip booked via Scudamores and had a delicious meal at La Mimosa. Highly recommend them all.
