What not to like! Quick check-in, friendly staff, literally at the heart of Dundee and right above the train station. Pretty close to all bus stops, a 10-second walk from train station and overlooking the sea with lovely view and tall building. Room seevice was amazing as well. In comparison to the most famous hotel chain, it's a world ahead. Would love for them to expand across the Uk and keep reasonable room prices. Wasn't paid for this review ha. Came over to Dundee to attend a workshop in Ninewells Hospital

Our room looked over the water park and was so spacious and exceptionally clean. The little extras included water and cookies which were replaced everyday and the toiletries included lavender sleep drops and lovely hand and body cream. The staff were all very friendly and happy to hold our bags due to early arrival and late departure. Location was fantastic and we were able to walk everywhere. Would highly receommend to anyone and was very impressed with the Apex chain from what we experienced in Dundee.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Dundee for three full weeks and loved every moment of it! Our room was so comfortable and well equipped, the staff was very helpful and kind and breakfast was amazing! Great views, lovely atmosphere and it was always quiet and relaxed. Couldn’t recommend it more!

Its just a lovely warm and welcoming place to be. We go usually time in November. Shops are amazing, staff always make you wecome and ask where are you from etc , so friendly. We will book again for next year.

An interesting city. The people were lovely and it is an excellent base to travel to other locations. Excellent bus service to St Andrews and Tentsmuir forest. Plenty of choice for eating and shopping. Museums and galleries. Would return.

I like Dundee. I like the buildings.

I like Dundee. I like the buildings. Nicely pedestrianised centre. Sad to see so many empty shops. I was there to visit my sister in Ninewells Hospital so I didn’t eat out. The bus services were very good.

Great views of the Tay Bridge.

Great views of the Tay Bridge. Mills Observatory well worth a visit, saw Saturn with its rings through a telescope. I notice this is not listed among "popular places in Dundee". V&A Museum building well worth a look even if you are not interested in the contents. Ate at V&A cafe (good food but pricey). Bought ham an bread at a supermarket to make my own sandwiches. I did not see a McDonalds, Burger King, Domino Pizzas nor Greggs. Walked everywhere, stayed about 1 mile from the centre.

Lots to do !

Lots to do ! V & A was excellent and so was the Jute museum. A bonus was the Jazz Festival coinciding with our visit. Plenty of good restaurants and my CD collection has grown after visiting the music shops. We walked around using the free trail leaflets.

I used to live in Dundee from 2006 to 2012. Its an interesting City. The history is interesting. The McManus Galleries, The Verdant Works, The Discovery Ship and more. And more modern is the V n A Musuem. The Dundonians are characters...

The hotel was very close to the bus stop which took us to Arbroath, a cute little village that we wanted to see. The bus station and cruise terminal were also close to the hotel. The dining options in Dundee were great, many to choose from, people in the shops friendly. The visit to the "Discovery" ship was great and would recommend this attraction. On the whole, it was easy to get around Dundee on foot or using the local bus. The local bus drivers were great and helpful to us as overseas visitors but some were very gruff, rude and unhelpful and assumed we would know things that as overseas visitors, we had no idea and spoke to us in a gruff and abrupt manner. This was the only detraction.

The Hotel building straddles the entrance hall of the Dundee railway station. Parking is available in the nearby public multi-storey parking garage (3 min walk, discounted parking), and site like the V&A Dundee, HMS Discovery are only a few steps away. Staff we met were very welcoming and friendly, rooms simple with comfortable beds, bathroom and shower clean. Excellent view of Dundee city centre through the large panorama window of the breakfast room/restaurant. A place we are happy to use again.

We had a room on the front of the hotel, overlooking the river, but the windows were not particularly great from a soundproofing point of view. Staff were really friendly and helpful and the hotel is in a great location. There's a lot going on in Dundee and I would have loved to have spent a full weekend there and not just the one night. Some nice local pubs and restaurants nearby too. We were there for open day at St Andrews's University which is about 20 minutes away.

I always stay in this hotel now when visiting Dundee or St Andrews. Staff are very welcoming, hotel is spotless. Fans were put in the room when the weather was hot, without asking for one. Food is delicious. I recommend woodlands Hotel to family and friends. They have stayed here too since.

Good location for visiting around Dundee. The pool was nice, and the pool staff were great. Hotel had grounds to let our toddler run about, and it's a nice old building.
