The staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The food was good quality and very tasty. The proprietors of the hotel had fantastic friendly customer relations with everything. My experienced stay at the Douglas Hotel was very comfortable. I would like to thank all staff for their hospitality, especially Jason the proprietor of the Douglas hotel for his very friendly and upmost caring and excellent customer service.

We wanted to spend New Year in Scotland as our daughter and...
We wanted to spend New Year in Scotland as our daughter and family are moving to Australia in spring. Langholm may only "just" be over the border but we enjoyed (two) pipers at mid night and a marching silver band the following morning.
The rivers flowing through the town were high as a result of recent rain and were an attraction for our grandson who took to collecting some stones to take away.
The High St has a number of local shops, a Londis food shop and the Coop supermarket is about a 10 minute walk south of the house.

A lovely area which provides some lovely walks of varying...
A lovely area which provides some lovely walks of varying lengths (downloadable from the Langholm Walks website) and some interesting history. It is a quiet and peaceful and can be used as a base to visit attractions further afield.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They provided me with a meal even though they had finished serving for the evening.
They also provide ear plugs to counter the noise from the road traffic at night.
This is caused by the ever increasing number of timber lorries bombing up and down the country roads (and certainly not at 20mph in the town). This is not the hotel's fault, but a caution to visitors expecting solitude.

The hotel was a perfect stop for is on a long distance cycle ride. It had secure parking for the bikes which is always a bonus. The location in the centre of Langholm was ideal. The landlord could not have been more helpful to us during our stay and the rooms were perfect for our needs. Breakfast set us up brilliantly for a hard day's riding.

Excellent location, right in the centre of Langholm. Great communication with the host and she kindly let us in early to leave our bags before we met with friends.
Lovely little touches like, bread, milk, crisps and cookies and some condiments in the fridge.
We often visit Langholm and will definitely stay here again.
