Everything contributed to a lovely experience and an unforgettable holiday. The family room we had was very clean and quiet. The hotel is situated in a lovely small town, with beautiful shops. However, please stay away from the Exmoor Fish And Chips place - they serve their friends, neighbours and loyal customers first, even though you're before them in the queue (we were number 74 and they had served up to number 88 before we finally asked why it was was taking them more than one hour to do 3 chips and one sausage). Our bathroom had two wash basins, which we loved. The hosts at the Lion Hotel were extremely welcoming, warm, and kind, and we felt very grateful for everything. The food at the Lion Hotel restaurant looked and tasted absolutely amazing. The service was excellent as well. We loved both the breakfast and the dinner. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience, Ian and Peter. It was lovely to see a successful family-run business and be able to contribute to that. We really hope to come back.

I was made to feel at home from the moment I arrived at Nutsfotd House. I arrived late on and was greeted by James and Amanda with cake and tea. They are the perfect hosts. The rooms were all exceptionally clean with everything you could need at hand. The breakfasts were amazing with a fantastic choice. I had full English with homemade patty-cake and homemade baked beans. Everything was delicious. The grounds and location were breathtaking, so peaceful and quiet with lovely walks into the countryside direct from the front door, what more could you want?. If I could have stayed there forever I would die a happy man.

Really lovely little pub in pretty village.

Really lovely little pub in pretty village. Beer and drinks at a good price and food looked really good. Rooms very well decorated, shower powerful, bed very comfortable with tea/coffee provided. Lovely cooked breakfast cooked to order and staff all friendly and accommodating.

We've known The Red Lion for many years as we have four...

We've known The Red Lion for many years as we have four family members buried in the churchyard in Oakford and visit the village whenever we are down from London to pay our respects. This was the first time we'd actually stayed overnight though, and it didn't disappoint. The refurbishment some years ago has made this a special place to visit - very picturesque, cosy bar and breakfast room downstairs and luxuriously appointed en-suite bedrooms upstairs. The comfiest bed with gorgeous bedding and plush towels. Good sized television and fresh milk for our tea/coffee tray in the room. Thoughtful touch with earplugs for the rooks, but wasn't a problem for us. Lovely breakfast and our dog made to feel very welcome. Wish we had had longer but will definitely be back! Remote location obviously not an issue for us as we know the area well, and certainly adds to the charm of a stay in Oakford.
