Calder House Hotel looked to have great views out to sea...

Calder House Hotel looked to have great views out to sea with a fabulous beach. We experienced a tired run down establishment with a ‘couldn’t be bothered’ staff attitude. Dismissive and inattentive, we would never go back.

Great food in terms of quantity and quality, friendly and helpful staff, and a spacious room with a lovely view of the sea and beach. We travelled to various parts of Cumbria each day of our stay to make the most of the time we had there.

Nice small town, don't expect many shops or cafes/restaurants. The Seaside was very beautiful, easy to walk, with beautiful scenery, golden sand and big rocks. Keep in mind it looks like it's always windy there.

Although near a nuclear power station, it didn't feel like it once in the hotel grounds. Staff were superb and couldn't make us and, in particular, our little dog more welcome. Room was comfortable and a generous size, our evening meal we had was superb and breakfast was lovely with our dog receiving a bonus sausage!

Calder House was fantastic! Every member of staff was so friendly and helpful! We were leaving before breakfast service so they went out of their way to put a little breakfast together so we could have something to eat. The hotel was clean, welcoming and right by the beach! Would absolutely recommend
