Amazing location and was just 1.5 miles away from car park that takes us to top of Helvellyn mountain. Nice and easy under 10 min drive to Keswick which was very conveinent. Thirlmere Dam and the hike up the hill next to it is a good one to go around as well. The breakfast at Kings Head Inn in Thirlmere was very good..

Great little place if you want to stay a night after a big walk very cozy and comfortable the weather wasn’t amazing when we were there but added to the cosiness, of the little Shepherds hut hearing the rain outside had a great time. Would stay again.

The Lake District is so much more than just hills and lakes.

The Lake District is so much more than just hills and lakes. It is a place that is good for the soul and has some unique shopping areas. The coast line with it's seaside towns complement the hills and lakes. Just wish we had more time but we will be back.

The hotel, staff and food exceeded our expectations.

The hotel, staff and food exceeded our expectations. Real ale was well kept and a bonus. The highlight of the afternoons were the RAF jets flying up the valley at tree top hight. People would wait for their arrival.

The scenery is stunning!

The scenery is stunning! Shame about the closeness of the road to our bedroom window! A cooked breakfast would be an improvement! The room was tiny! I did have another 3 days booked for the end of September but cancelled after our stay! Find somewhere different to eat other than The Kings Head which isn’t as good as they make out!

Gateway to both the Northern and Southern lakes.

Gateway to both the Northern and Southern lakes. A lot of good restaurants in the general area, but book early if in a large group . Hoards of people so visit important places early e.g. Castlerigg stone circle is MUCH better if you're the only group there. You can feel its 4500 years age. Book steam ferries before you go otherwise availability might be low. Ask prices at tea rooms before buying. We paid £33 for seven teas/coffees.

Great location, set back from the road, at Dale Head Hall. So it’s quiet but only 10 min walk to pub and bus stop, easy to walk into central and eastern fells from the door. Great views from the first floor apartment across the lakeside grounds and Thirlmere. Spacious, comfortable and functional apartment, new bathroom with good shower. Boot room available for drying wet gear. Good value.

A really attractive building, set well back from the road. Lots of parking. Very friendly and helpful staff. We got this hotel for a last minute deal and it was a really good price for a pleasant, modern room. Breakfast is continental with a decent selection. Staff make you coffee of tea fresh. Room was very quiet overnight.
