The property is a paradise, I was lucky enough to be the first guest at the blue Mathis and wow! What a true beauty. On the island of Gili Asahan this resort is honestly a top tier resort sitting at 5 starts with extreamly professional and caring staff that would bend over backwards to provide the best service for your stay. With beautiful villas that all have a sea view Morden styling and décor, there’s nothing more this resort could do to make this stay more pleasurable. I stayed in the beach villa with plunge pool and I didn’t expect how amazing this villa would be. Perfectly high end with comfortable outdoor plunge pool this villa would beat most. Hot showers in bathroom that was designed to perfection with high quality appliances and smartly designed indoor/ outdoor living. I had the most peaceful sleep with cosy large beds and cosy pillows, air conditioned rooms and a quietness as the island itself is inhabited with near 70 people that had given me a true getaway from the Bali/Lombok hustle. The plunge pool was a gem, to have access to you own private pool although they have a beautiful and Large communal pool there’s something about taking a dip into your own pool that’s warm just before you get to sleep. Surprising deep enough to soak and to swim around in Breakfast lunch and dinner was a treat! Breakfast was extremely tasty and fufulling offering you an order form before the next day to be prepared how you like it in your villa or in the restaurant, the meals was so tasty they have a brilliant chef and very meals was delicious not forgetting affordable for what you get as the portions was filling! Option of western and Indonesian cuisine both being very well presenting and tasting, loved the small plates options was perfect for sitting by the pool.

the location is the best of all Gili Asahan resorts by far. Beautiful beaches and sunset dinner on the beach was included. Saltwater pool was huge bonus as well and the very well equipped villas offered loads of privacy. Very comfortable king bed and a small fridge and the bathroom had a very nice lay out with a rain shower.

The rooms at Vayam Boutique resort were absolutely lovely ! The moment we reached the resort, we loved it so much that we had to extend our trip by a day! The manager, Mita, was so helpful - she arranged our pickup from the port and dropoff too and everything was so on time! All the staff - super friendly! The island itself is a little dream - beautiful beyond belief. There are a handful of resorts on it but we mainly ate breakfast and lunch at Vayam and dinner at the surrounding hotels. To be honest, breakfast was amazing and lunches were great too! We will definitely come back again!

You get a lot of help getting there, which makes it super relaxed. Once you arrive, the accommodation is small but nice and, above all, completely adequate. Close to nature, you can enjoy your time here perfectly. You can go snorkeling right on the doorstep with the equipment rented from the accommodation. Great for beginners too, really beautiful! The food and drink at the accommodation is not expensive by the standards and tastes really great! The staff are very honestly warm and friendly. We really enjoyed our time and even extended it by a day on site. Can only recommend it!

Super friendly welcome, Marie (owner) is super nice. Very friendly and the cook is so good. Very good food and the red snapper is excellent. Juices and drinks are really good! Excellent coffee. Beautiful sunrise view.

Only 4 smaller bungalows and I believe, one larger family-style bungalow, so not many guests. The place is nice and peaceful, with a great restaurant offering both local and western options. I chose this place for the adjoining dive centre: the equipment is very well maintained, and the staff are super nice! The boat departs directly from the resort around 9am, and after two dives, we were back around 1-2pm. Just in time to lounge on a sunbed for the rest of the afternoon. I highly recommend this place, especially for divers! Although we did see some turtles, I would say the main attractions of the dives are macro, with tons of different types of nudibranchs and frogfishes.

After a short boat ride you pull up directly to the property, which has a beautiful view of Lombok from across the ocean. You can immediately get into your bungalow and settle in, escaping the sun if need be. The natural air flow and shade keeps the temperature down inside during the day, which is quite pleasant to sit and read in. There are ample options for sitting inside or out. I had come to do snorkeling, but unfortunately woke up with sinus issues the morning I traveled over. Due to this I was unable to get snorkeling in during my stay, but I was grateful for the comfortable accommodations in which I could try to recover more quickly. You will have mosquito netting for the bed, and it is advisable that you use it as some will visit during the nights. Also be advised that while you won't have a bidet (at least during the timeframe of my visit), you will still have bathroom access to a water spout and the means with which to remain clean. You'll be fine :) If staying around the property you will often see the lovely owners and their beautiful family enjoying the days. You can find friendly conversation with them, advice for enjoying Gili Gede's offerings, as well as some food or drink options if need be. Their son and I enjoyed some tasty pineapple smoothies in the shade of the ocean front tables, while flowers dropped from the trees above and butterflies fluttered around us. It was nice to have access to the icy treat, packed with vitamin C to help the immune system. Gili Gede is a slower paced, quiet, rural setting away from the party scene you might find among the northern Gilis. There is snorkeling and diving without the crowds, fishing trips, shell collecting when the tide is out, and other ocean activities to partake in which the owners can help you organize.

The entire space and the atmosphere from Palmyra, the fact that you could do some kayaking in the area, the food was really delicious, especially the Pepes and the whole grilled fish, we do recommend guests to try that, it is 5 stars food and a 5 stars cook!!!

If you want to go to a remote island with beautiful beach,...

If you want to go to a remote island with beautiful beach, friendly locals and fantastic snorkeling, this is for you. However, the infrastructure is quite limited - water is brought in and electricity comes from generators and solar - so don't expect luxury. The workers on the island all do their best to ensure you have a comfortable and authentic stay. The roosters and the call to prayer make the island a challenging place to get a good night's sleep, but you can always nap by the beach.

Gili Asahan is so laid back. The staff were so welcoming

Gili Asahan is so laid back. The staff were so welcoming The food was delicious and so was the coffee! Sleeping in a Bale was fabulous and the bed was super comfy. I didn't bother with the blinds, just slept under the mosquito nets The horse walk is a lovely experience 🐎 Would recommend Gili Asahan Eco Lodge 💜

Not the best island I have been too.

Not the best island I have been too. Was quite hot with no air conditioning or tv. But was good to do without. Internet only available around the resteraunt. Because there was not much to do most people spent thier time on the internet. The italian resteraunt in the other hotel was crap. The biggest deterrent to most travellers was the amount of plastic floating around in the beaches. Not the fault of the hotel.

This sea water is quite clear with very little plastic. The water is heavenly, with quiet seas because of it’s location. The hotel we stayed at was on the Lombok side of the island, so the seas were calm, and often still like a lake. This area feels quite remote, and you won’t see many if any tourists when you are boating around. So there is a sense of seclusion and being in a remote location. This would be a nice area to take a sailboat if you can find one to rent. They will be increasing the number of fast boats scheduled to go to this area soon, so that it’s faster to go direct to Gili Gede from Bali every day, instead of the twice weekly (Monday and Friday) schedule available now. We had to take a fast boat to Bengsal and drive 2 1/2 hours because we booked our hotel on a Saturday instead of Friday, not knowing that we couldn’t just get a fast boat direct to Gili Gede any day but Monday and Friday. There are only 4 places to stay on the island at this time, and we stayed at Amahelia, which is by far the nicest. Someone from Belgium is building a really nice resort on this island that will have 20 villas with private pools, we heard. It is still under construction. Gili Asahan is definitely worth adding to your list of places to go for a quiet, remote and peaceful trip, with wonderful seas to swim and boat in.

I loved the tranquility of the island and the location of our hotel. Beautiful seabed for scuba diving and snorkeling, with stunning coral (blue coral). Our hotel was very good, and the excursions are a must: traditional boat trips for snorkeling, sunset drinks, and massages. A relaxing short break that's perfect at the start of a trip.

Gili Asahan is a highly recommended destination for those seeking peace and quiet, families, snorkelers, and divers. Unlike Gili Trawangan, for example, it's very tranquil. It boasts beautiful beaches. A short boat transfer from mainland Lombok is all it takes; hotels offer this service using their own boats.
