Close to a fairly quiet area near the sea with lots of restaurants (pork dishes, etc, and beer). Also close to the center. Event though it is a big, impersonal hotel, at breakfast I managed to have a two-shot expresso made especially for me and they even came to offer me a second one! Thas was a first!

The staff were exceptional with their service and care in accommodating our large family group of 10 people; 2 children, 2 teachers, 4 adults and a senior citizen. Three generations of our family travelling to return to our ancestral home of Sulawesi. They also helped organise our day tour to Bunaken, and all airport transfers.

If you come to North Sulawesi to dive, but also to explore the surroundings and get to know the country and its people, then Murex Dive Resort is the ideal place. Located directly on the sea just outside the city in a spacious park area, it offers everything you need. Nice bungalows with AC, very good catering (we ate à la carte, not from the buffet) as well as cordial and helpful staff. Dive boats to Bunaken leave directly from the hotel's own beach. The resort also organizes tours into the hinterland. We were on a number of volcanoes (Empung, Mahawi and Soputan) as well as in Tangkoko National Park. Everything was perfectly organized and breathtakingly beautiful.
