I went to Rishikesh with an open mind to witness the might...
I went to Rishikesh with an open mind to witness the might of the Ganges River, see the temples and join my wife in the participation of the Aarti Ceremony. There are the local habits, roving animals and crazy traffic that may annoy a lot of visitors. But I chose to rise above those and focus on the rituals, temples, monuments, daily activities, Ashrams (retreats) and the view of the Rishikesh valley. The flow of the Ganges and the 3 cable bridges (Ram Jhulla, Lachman Julla, and Janki Jhulla), and the chanting with the ceremonies in the evenings were mesmerizing, humbling and a joy to the soul. The only downside was that some groups of youngsters were there just to smoke and drink, which can spoil the vibe. Been there before . This time I wanted a pooja done . The Panditji I was recommended by the security guard at Triveni ghat , was par excellence. Ganga Aarti at Haridwar is a once in a lifetime experience. The Rikshaw drivers are nice as well. Willing to wait while you finish what you want to .
