My first preference was vicinity to temple and this property is just aside. Room is exceptionally clean with neat toilet and clean towels. I found everything fine here. Value for money and I strongly recommend.

We had a pleasant stay over there.. The host and his father was kind-hearted . They welcomed us and greeted us pleasantly. The rooms, bathrooms and living room were well maintained and the delicious food was served. Overall our family had a wonderful experience staying in Anandam Homestays at Vaikom. Surely I will recommend this place to my friends and relatives.

Location and layout of the hotel, Looks great from photos, but quite Run down property and staff need more training on the hospitality side. Gym machine are all written and rusted, dont even bother going there. Swimming pool in a poor condition.

This is a beautiful hotel with amazing garden and swimming poll area on the lake shores! Staff is so helpful and friendly. They helped us a lot with some ginger mixture when we had stomach issue. Gorgeous, indian decor, clean and spacious room (better book the one with lake view), good breakfast. Quite pricy but you have to pay for good standard in India. Nothing within walking distance (not an issue, just FYI), perfect for relax and doing nothing. :)

The property is located at the Backwater with a stunning view. It is exceptionally clean and the staff is very very attentive. The cleaning happens almost throughout the entire day, very meticulously. At the reception Ms. Deepthi is very supportive and guides very properly regarding the local places to visit. Thomas who is a room attendant is also very very attentive. The food also is very tasty and fresh fish are served here. All in all this hotel gives an experience of living in a 5 star.

Didn't see much of the main part of Vaikom but did walks...

Didn't see much of the main part of Vaikom but did walks around the homestay. Visited a Temple and was lucky enough to see a ceremony which involved drumming, dancing, elaborate make-up and fire. There is a Ghandi memorial park to see which is very interesting.

Regarding Dhyan Retreat, I've already covered the essentials. As for Vaikom itself, it's difficult to be objective, as we arrived right in the middle of a major religious festival that only happens once every 12 years. You can imagine... Otherwise, it's not a town that, in my opinion, justifies a significant detour.
