The Thermal baths was great. A big area (and currently expanding). The restaurant there was very reasonably priced for Iceland. They made a great coffee. Food was good.
Went to the geothermal site which was pretty amazing.
We hiked up Hverfjall, theextinct volcano which was interesting.
Went to Dentifoss and Selfoss which were very impressive
We enjoyed our stay. Well worth a visit

I’m 2/3 of circumnavigating Iceland, and I have to say that...
I’m 2/3 of circumnavigating Iceland, and I have to say that this area is the weirdest landscape yet—in a good way. In a small area there are extinct volcanoes, steaming hillsides, lakes with strange lava 'islands', ethereal mountains…….. so strange. So beautiful. Highly recommended.

Spent a day and a half in the Lake Mývatn area. Loved it.
Spent a day and a half in the Lake Mývatn area. Loved it. There is so much to see and do: crater hikes, thermal baths, geothermal areas, bird watching, lava features. And just overall, it has beautiful views of farms and countryside. Both relaxing and exciting. Could easily spent another couple of days without it feeling repetitive.

A "must-visit" bird-watching location in northern Iceland, with great scenery and impressive geo-thermal sites near by. Lots of way-marked walking routes around the lake and several places to get food and shopping.

It's a beautiful lava field and lake system.
It's a beautiful lava field and lake system. Old volcanos and lava flows. Dimmuborgir is a legendary place where the Yule Lads sleep through the summer. Bear in mind that the summer can have hatches of midges.
Krafla Power Station, active geothermal mud pools, Mývatn Nature Baths.
If you travel in the winter it's a great place to see the Aurora as practically no light pollution.
Obviously it's not as nice as Akureyri, but I would say that as I live there

This hotel was located in a great area for us to explore this part of Iceland.
The hotel is a great option and I could not fault anything.
Rooms are beautifully stylish and the whole hotel has been designed very well with stunning decor.
The staff are friendly and helpful.

We had a comfortable stay at Hotel Laxa. The bed was comfortable and we had a good night sleep. There was a kettle and we enjoyed a hot cup of tea while taking in the beautiful view and amazing sunset. The breakfast was varied and delicious.
You can sign up on a aurora list, where they will come and wake you up if the northern lights decide to make an appearance. This was really nice and it gave us the opportunity to see the aurora ❤️

Everything was really good. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, the room and the common area is pretty awesome and practical! I couldn't enjoy it fully as I arrived late in the night.
The room and the bed were comfy and nice. The breakfast is really good, and you need to try the local products!
You can walk to lake Myvatn in no time.

Nice place located close to the Myvatn lake. The room was ok with a separate entrance from the outside. There is a communal kitchen that is clean and equipped with two tables and one sofa to rest, read or even play some board games. We found the accommodation in a good place due to the route we planned.

The hotel has a restaurant with delicious food and a cosy bar with a fireplace.
The room was comfortable and clean!

So delighted to check in after horror experience at guest house down the road. Fosshotel was calm, organised and beautiful views. The sauna was fantastic. Rooms were clean and quiet (if hot).
