Beautiful hotel in a picturesque setting with a view of the nearby glacier if the weather is clear. We loved the restaurant in the hotel and our service was excellent. This was the only Fosshotel our group stayed at while in Iceland as they were generally more pricey than our other accommodations, but we thought it was well worth it!

I only spent one night at Birkifell and in all honesty it was not enough. Birkifell is 100% pure charm and comfort. The cabin is small but comfortable and tastefully decorated. The kitchen was pretty much perfect. Coffee machine with coffee, stovetop, oven and microwave, fridge/freezer, cutlery, crockery and cookware. The beds are so comfortable and warm. I slept amazingly well. And now what is truly wow. Hot tub on the verandah with clear, unobstructed views of the sky which was crystal clear. The hot tub was hot, comfortable and clean. The only sound to be heard was me. I have never experienced such quiet and stillness before. It was invigorating. I was sad to have to leave Birkifell but when I come back to Iceland, Birkifell will be my must stay again. I love everything about Birkifell.

We got the spectacular mountain view room so we could clearly see the glacier outlets. Great location for chasing the northern lights because the surroundings are farms with not much light. The food is nice. We had the signature local langoustine soup and vanilla ice cream for dinner and they were splendid. Rankes among my most favourite dishes in Iceland so far. The room is well equipped and comfortable. Good selection for breakfast.

The rooms are fairly new, and spacious! Very comfy wool blakets and chairs and good wifi, it was actually nice to spend our evenings in the room after a long day of driving and hiking around. The dinner and breakfasts were ok, but not outstanding to write about.

Excellent guesthouse. Very clean and beautiful place. The staff is friendly and approachable. Dinner was very good, portions are big and prices are razonable. Breakfast is also great, with plenty of options. The best thing is the view of the glacier, the location is definitely unbeatable.

This was truly an unexpected and very pleasant surprise! I stayed there with my 3 children and we were all enchanted by the charm of the place. The chalet we stayed in was comfortable, clean and the decor was extremely tasteful. Unfortunately we didn't stay long. We arrived at night and left early the next day. However, we had time for a quick breakfast before departure. The restaurant was a real “pearl”! The various musical instruments and all the other details made our eyes shine! The owners were very friendly and cordial. It was expensive, but we would definitely recommend this property to those who appreciate good hospitality and careful attention to details.
