We checked in with a very professional and polite young lady. We had a small but cozy room on the first floor. Property was immaculate. We had a large, comfortable bathroom with great hot water. The building offers great security with door codes to get in. The dining area downstairs was lovely with art work and beautiful table settings. They offer a delicious cold cut buffet with breads, pastries, fruits, veggies, cereals, juices, tea, and coffee machine. They also have a chiller available with beers, wines, and sodas that can be purchased. The location has a small grocery just steps away and a delicious pizza restaurant within a short walking distance. They have their parking lot just a few steps outside the front door. Easy to get luggage in and out. They have delicious chocolates! Would definitely stay here again.

Great location, right in the heart of the city!! You can reach anything around the main attractions within a 5-10 minute walk. Staff is incredibly helpful and friendly! The room is clean and has a great layout with plenty of counter space and mirrors with great lighting. The shower has good pressure and it has great amenities in the room such as: a fridge, nespresso machine, and kettle. The beds are comfy. The light layout actually makes sense in the rooms. The spa and gym are super accessible and easy to schedule. Overall, this hotel was amazing! Will definitely be back!

Nice Scandinavian vibe. Better than Oslo; i prefer Helsinki.

Nice Scandinavian vibe. Better than Oslo; i prefer Helsinki. Landscape is great, nice 'skyline' and village feel. Expensive [very] for the day to day things, snacks, coffee, etc. Practically cashless so that works well. ATM's all over if needed. Good outlets. Copious eating options. Eminently walk able. Airport could be much better and transfer to and fro - bit of a carbuncle but it the best they can do. Relying on taxis \c£150 each way, or a bus thingy which isn't easily signed or understood. I understand it now, but a the time i was rather angst. Return public transport is practically non-existent before 7am so if an early return flight you are a hostage to taxi fare. International Airport is 40 miles, roughly, from Reykjavik [45 minutes at 4am without traffic]. I am pleased i have visited and been out the city and seen the 'landscape'. It's not a location for a regular long weekend away for me, more a once only, but its nice enough. Perfectly safe and quite unlike Stockholm / Oslo. A place to take your fiance for sure.

Reykjavik is incredibly walkable.

Reykjavik is incredibly walkable. Assuming you have a good day weatherwise, it's just a lovely place to be. Eating can be expensive, but the quality of restaurants is very high. Hallgrimskirkja is genuinely impressive and the Sólfar I found to be quite moving - it's also bigger than it looks. I also think the bakeries in this city are of world class quality. Well worth getting a cinnamon bun.

Which places did you like the most there?

Which places did you like the most there? I absolutely loved walking around the city center especially the area near Hallgrímskirkja Church and the colorful streets around Laugavegur. The view from the church tower is stunning, and the small boutiques and cafés nearby give Reykjavík such a cozy vibe. I also really enjoyed the harbor area with its modern buildings and peaceful atmosphere. Where did you eat? I tried a few local places, but the best meal I had was the traditional Icelandic soup honestly, the best in town! I also recommend trying Skyr and freshly prepared fish, they taste completely different than anywhere else. And of course, don’t miss a glass of local Icelandic beer, it’s surprisingly good :)! Is getting around Reykjavík easy? Yes, it’s very easy. The public transport works well, especially if you download the KLAPPID app. Most of the main attractions are within walking distance, and buses are reliable and clean. What interesting activities would you recommend to other solo travelers? Reykjavík is perfect for solo travel it’s safe, calm, and full of friendly people. I’d recommend visiting one of the thermal pools, Sky lagoon exploring local art galleries, the Perlan museum or taking a walk along the seaside promenade. And if you have time, take a day trip to see the Golden Circle, it’s breathtaking. I’ll definitely come back one day. 🇮🇸✨

Hotel Local 101 was the perfect choice for a night in Reykjavik. The location is very convenient, just a short walk from the city center. it’s a good place to stay, good price, nice staff. it’s not downtown, so if you rent a car while staying in Reykjavík, you will have no trouble going around the city. otherwise will you have to pay taxi to go out and that’s pretty expensive, do yourself a favor a rent a car it’s the best way to explore Iceland!
