Everything was perfect. The Lugas family ( father and daughter )are very hospitable and welcoming. It is like being at home away from home. The Lugas are very helpful and eager to assist. If all hosts are like them we would not need to check reviews. Rooms are immaculately clean. Great wifi and the delicious breakfast is all local and homegrown. The village is super nice, chiesa with huge marble altar is amazing. House and rooms are lovely, renovated and refurbished with a touch. Breakfast with delicious local food is very tasty. The whole place has a very good atmosphere.

Santa Cristina Sacred Well is AMAZING!!!

Santa Cristina Sacred Well is AMAZING!!! It is about half way between Bosa and Barumini, where Su Nuraxe is (the only Unesco World Heritage Site on Sardinia). As the Nuraghes were being abandoned (WHY???) the culture turned to worship of water. This well (spring) is from about 1000 BC and incredible construction and design, and in almost perfect condition. Definitely worth World Heritage status in our humble opinion. And even if you've seen lots of Nuraghes already, Su Nuraxe is worthwhile, because iit was so complex, so complete, and you go with an English speaking guide. Imagine how easy it would be to defend in it's later construction! Contemplate why the north tower is so cold! So why did they abandon it? Town is little but cute. Museums OK. Dinner very good (Sa Lolly). We also went about 20-30 minutes up a huge hiill to Parco della Giarda, where the only wild horses in Europe are. No ticket needed, gorgeous hike. Saw wild horses including Mom and baby in shallow lake eating grass, several other horses who disappeared like ghosts, but also dueling dung beetles, goats wearing bells, incredible wildflowers and bark stripped but healthy Cork Oak trees. Memorable hike! Great place to visit!!!

The nuraxes (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) are impressive.

The nuraxes (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) are impressive. The museums included with the entrance fee to the archaeological park are well worth a visit. The dome of the church in Barumini, like that of Alghero, shows Spanish influences.

I visited the three sites (Su Narixi, the cultural center, and Casa Zapata) on foot. I explored the surrounding areas by car. The historic village is pleasant, though not particularly remarkable. It was winter, but I found a good Sardinian restaurant (Su Pasiu).

Barumini was a pleasant discovery!

Barumini was a pleasant discovery! A place steeped in history and child-friendly, welcoming to families, and well-organized on many fronts. Recommended for a weekend of fun and nature, and why not also learn more about the archaeology, history, and art of our beautiful Sardinia.

A fascinating and mystical experience.

A fascinating and mystical experience. Su Nuraxi is undoubtedly the main attraction, but Casa Zapata and the Lilliu Museum are equally worth a visit. A visit to Turri, a town just a few kilometers from Barumini, is also a must, to discover the tulip garden!

The room was spacious, super clean and with a beautiful view on a beautiful garden. The hostess, Mrs Marinella was super kind and friendly and she prepared a rich breakfast for me that was consisting of fresh ingredients from hee garden! Homemade marmelades and apple pie, plus high quality cheese and fresh fruits from the garden and many other delicacies! This lady must give semimars to other Sardinian hoteliers on how to host guests and how to be perfect and professional!

Cosy, clean and comfortable in a quiet area. There were other guests, but we only saw them when we arrived and when we left. The location is great for visiting Su Barumini and Giara di Gesturi. It was too hot to walk to find horses in the middle of the day, so staying here meant we could go back early evening, when it was a bit cooler and there was hardly anyone else about and we found a group of horses easily.

I chose this hotel as they have a restaurant and as we were arriving late in the day that was handy. The hotel is pretty with a large peaceful front garden. Dinner was good, as was the breakfast (7.50). It's easy to park right outside and you are minutes away from the archaelogical site.
