whilst the hotel was old, it didn’t detract from it at all. we chose it because it was across the road from the Herculaneum historical site. the receptionist was lovely, the breakfast filled us up for the day. we were there on New Year’s Day and the town was exceptionally quiet, so much so that we found it difficult to find somewhere to eat at night. parking was a bit tricky and we got a fine by not understanding the rules.

Since 2022 I have been traveling several times a year to Naples/Ercolano for work and this was by far the best place I have ever stayed. Super clean, tastefully decorated and quiet. Lucia welcomed us very warmly and even gave us excellent tips on restaurants near the hotel.

This was a good definition of experience exceeding expectations. It's really a great hotel. The lady at the reception was super nice and friendly. She offered me a cup of coffee upon arrival, which was very thoughtful given my early flight. I ordered a room with 2 separate beds. But upon learning I'll be staying with my wife she offered to change the room for a bigger one with a big comfy bed. No extra charge! The room was very clean and spacious. There's a TV, a small fridge, and kettle. There's also a common kitchen you can use. A couple of croissants were waiting for us inside the room as well. Also, there's a huge free parking. Upon arrival you should simply ask the receptionist to guide you in.

Outstanding service, beautiful room with the perfect view of the ocean looking across to Naples. Comfortable beds, very clean and everything provided. Our host was amazing, he collected us from the airport and pointed out many useful things as we drove to the apartment. He also drove us back to the airport, at an extremely good rate. Very short walk down to Herculaneum, lots of lovely cafes and bars close by. Best stay of our trip in Italy.

We really wanted to see the archaeological site and stay at...

We really wanted to see the archaeological site and stay at Villa Durante. Both places didn't disappoint. We also found good restaurants there. Pedestrian pavements were better than in Naples but still difficult to walk on with luggage. It is a good place to stay if travelling on to Pompeii or Sorrento.

Perfect smaller alternative to Pompeii. Some places better preserved, shorter walking experience, walkable in few hours/half day, cheaper. Better than Pompeii for family with easily bored kids, less crowdy.

You can just soak up the history, not just in the 2000 year old Roman ruins of Herculeaum but also as you stroll through the lanes and passages of Ercolono itself, a wonderful town in it's own right.

It’s not the most beautiful town but the view from our...

It’s not the most beautiful town but the view from our appartment had beautiful views of the bay of Naples for a lot less than you pay in Sorrento. It’s a very good spot to catch the train to Pompeii ( the ruins are right beside Pompeii Scavi station change at Torre de Annunziata) Sorrento, Vesuvius and the stunning Herculaneum. There are plenty of great places to eat and a few volcanic sand beaches to relax after a long walk up a volcano. We enjoyed our pizzas at RoVi and walked into Portici for drinks at Vivarium’s rooftop bar and a fantastic seafood tasting menu at Da Guisieppe al Granatello

Nice area to walk around although many restaurants close in the afternoon and then open after 7pm. Some were closed for the summer season. There was some litter on the streets. People were very friendly and helpful.

We stayed 3 nights, and Ercolano was very convenient for visiting each of Pompeii, Ercolano, and Mt Vesuvio. We would suggest visiting both archeological sites as they provide complementary insights into Roman life and culture. A local guide by the name of Marily(Marialibera Guadagno) was recommended to us and she was brilliant. Having a private guide with her knowledge and humour added immeasurably to our experience.

The staff were helpful; the breakfast was good. The location is superb, right across the street from the ruins of Herculaneum, and close to restaurants. My room was on an upper story facing the inner courtyard, hence it was well protected from street noise and I never had a problem with noise from other guests. The decor was good. I was able to leave my luggage in a storage room after check-out in order to explore the ruins. Later I could sit out on the dining terrace to charge my phone and check train routes.

The hosts are very nice and helpful. Despite being located in a very old area of the town in a back cul-de-sac alley [one have to get used to the specific look-and-feel of it] the apartment is nice and in a very good spot - near an old train station Erculanum Scavi, near Herculanum ruins. Good place to visit whole Napoli-Vesuvio-Pompei-Salerno area. The bed was comfortable. The kitchen and the bathroom had all I needed - apart of that there was no corkscrew.

staff was so nice they even came earlier than expected and im grateful, the hotel was awesome and clean. location is beautiful and there is a lot of bars and food near (also a beach to sit and watch the sunset). i recommend 👍😊😍
