The location is fantastic, a stone's throw from the entrance to the archaeological park at Herculaneum. Amazing place!!! Francesca very kindly accepted our booking and let us check in early with one hour notice and upon arrival gave us snacks and a drink! It made such a difference and perked us up after a very hot and cramped train journey. The apartment is lovely, great location and can't fault it. Thanks for a lovely stay and for all the recommendations for where to visit and eat! We loved eating at Tubba Catubba and visiting the Ercolano Archaeological Park.

Very clean well decorated modern private apartment in a secure building with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Friendly hostess provided information on local ameneties and attractions. From the balcony a view of mount vesuvius and an orchard across the road. Close to a supermarket, greengrocer, pharmacy, pizzaria, restaurants, and post office with an ATM machine. Within a short taxi ride or walking distance of the Herculaneum ruins or the Ercolano railway station for travelling to the Pompeii ruins or the centre of Naples or catching the Vesuvio Express bus to the top of mount Vesuvius.

We really wanted to see the archaeological site and stay at...

We really wanted to see the archaeological site and stay at Villa Durante. Both places didn't disappoint. We also found good restaurants there. Pedestrian pavements were better than in Naples but still difficult to walk on with luggage. It is a good place to stay if travelling on to Pompeii or Sorrento.

Perfect smaller alternative to Pompeii. Some places better preserved, shorter walking experience, walkable in few hours/half day, cheaper. Better than Pompeii for family with easily bored kids, less crowdy.

You can just soak up the history, not just in the 2000 year old Roman ruins of Herculeaum but also as you stroll through the lanes and passages of Ercolono itself, a wonderful town in it's own right.

It’s not the most beautiful town but the view from our...

It’s not the most beautiful town but the view from our appartment had beautiful views of the bay of Naples for a lot less than you pay in Sorrento. It’s a very good spot to catch the train to Pompeii ( the ruins are right beside Pompeii Scavi station change at Torre de Annunziata) Sorrento, Vesuvius and the stunning Herculaneum. There are plenty of great places to eat and a few volcanic sand beaches to relax after a long walk up a volcano. We enjoyed our pizzas at RoVi and walked into Portici for drinks at Vivarium’s rooftop bar and a fantastic seafood tasting menu at Da Guisieppe al Granatello

Nice area to walk around although many restaurants close in the afternoon and then open after 7pm. Some were closed for the summer season. There was some litter on the streets. People were very friendly and helpful.

We stayed 3 nights, and Ercolano was very convenient for visiting each of Pompeii, Ercolano, and Mt Vesuvio. We would suggest visiting both archeological sites as they provide complementary insights into Roman life and culture. A local guide by the name of Marily(Marialibera Guadagno) was recommended to us and she was brilliant. Having a private guide with her knowledge and humour added immeasurably to our experience.

The location is great for exploring the ruins at Pompeii and Herculaneum, and it is very easy to get into Naples as it is a stone throw away from the train station. The Kitchen is well equipped and there is good aircon. The Bathroom is small and quirky but still good, I am 6ft and just fit in the shower. More of a need to know then didn't like. It is 2 bed but one of the beds is a sofa bed in the entrance/living room. This is fine as there is another entrance to the main bedroom Host was great and recommended some good restaurants.
