We stayed in Salo for 2 nights for our anniversary in April. The town was relatively quiet which suited us. We were there to relax and stroll through the streets and enjoy lazy lunches and dinners. For most tourists Salo is a charming little town at Lake Garda. Well, it is. But did you know that Salo used to be the capital of Italy? Salo is a lovely town on the shore of Lake Garda, from which there is an excellent ferry service allowing access to most towns around the lake while an occasional service takes visitors to the private but beautiful Isola di Garda. The promenade is extremely pleasant on which well-dressed local people stroll. It is fringed with a range of restaurants to reflect all tastes and pockets. Narrow streets and alleyways and pleasant squares link the promenade to the town itself, which has a wide range of retail opportunities, an excellent museum, cathedral and other attractions that make it an interesting place to while away a day. Many people say that it is quieter than more 'touristy' resorts on the lake, and that suited us well. Of course the views across the lake to the distant show-topped Monte Baldo (accessible by cable car from Malcacene) are stunning, and the mood changes often depending on the weather. A decent sunset illuminates the mountain tops, often wreathed in cloud, in a stunning display of colour. A perfect place.Guest review byIan CrowderUnited Kingdom

Breakfast buffet has everything you could wish for at breakfast. They cover all bases. Table service for coffee which is made to order. Room was very comfortable with a good A.C Unit. The property is very quiet and the building and grounds are absolutely beautiful. The room has everything you need including an espresso machine. The dog Laila is also a highlight of the property. She will pop out the little laundry room to greet you and if you follow her round to the garden she will play with her ball with you.
