During our three weeks' Sicily travel, our stay at Verdello Home was the very most pleasing and memorable. Roberta, Lio and Mauro were extraordinarily welcoming and accommodating, and wonderfully friendly and attentive. Our day of arrival, due to a surprise same-day virtual business meeting, we messaged ahead to request an early checkin. Roberta responded immediately and - fully three hours before our scheduled arrival - along with a pleasant staff member met us in the parking area to help with bags and took us directly without checkin to our room with desk (and excellent WiFi) to set up for our meeting. She then suggested a restaurant to quickly pick up takeout food (uncommon in Sicily) to gobble in our room pre-meeting. Later, after checkin, Roberta gave a detailed intro to the property, asked our interests, provided info on the local area, and recommended excellent places to eat. (We had delicious relaxed dinners at Pipispezzi and Aloha Mare, and a wonderful patio lunch at Osteria del Borgo.) The Verdello Home property, gardens, building, room, and furnishings are new and high quality, immaculately clean and well cared-for. The shower and water pressure were by far the best we experienced in Sicily. Large windows and spacious furnished balconies provide excellent views of the Sea. The location is perfect for visits to Savoca, Taormina and many miles of beaches and beachfront towns. During our stay, Roberta and Lio took time to casually chat. We asked many questions and learned a whole lot about the local area, traditions, culture, work and careers, and family life. We were impressed and touched to learn that - for Lio and Mauro - Verdello Home is a true labour of love honouring their Father (a physician who designed and built Verdello Home for his retirement) and their Grandfather (a farmer whose lemon trees still adorn the Verdello Home property). Our experience was first class and heartwarming, and our memories will be absolutely unforgettable.

Breakfast were exceptional. Christel has a lot of home made jams marmalade and other.. too many to recall. She also cooks fresh eggs to order. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. The beds were very comfortable. Christal has a lot of knowledge about the area and gives it freely. Her choice of restaurants for our diners were spot on and we enjoyed them.

Gianfranco and his daughter Floriana are absolute dream hosts. They went out of their way to ensure we had a good time, with help across the full week. They are lovely lovely people with a beautiful home. The villa was spotless and perfectly clean. The furnishings were very traditional Italian / Sicilian with lots of beautiful quirky furniture. There was plenty of space for our family of 5. The real draw for the property was the beautiful garden and saltwater pool. It was the nicest pool I’ve had in a villa and the garden was idyllic. There are plenty of sun loungers and places to sit / eat. The location is not that close to restaurants / shops so you will need a car but the nearby spots such as Santa Teresa and Savoca are wonderful places to be close to and only 10 min drive. Definitely recommend for a peaceful week but close to all the major attractions including Taormina.

The staff were beyond friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful and the little balcony over the town was lovely. The town becomes very peaceful in the evening and early morning which was just magical. Breakfast was amazing, our choice of anything from the bar. The staff were very attentive and it was a wonderful place to stay.

The residents are exceptionally kind, and the bakery is...

The residents are exceptionally kind, and the bakery is truly exceptional. It is a delightful destination to visit. Nevertheless, it is advisable to refrain from spending money at the renowned bar location where the godfather was filmed, as it is nothing more than a rip-off with subpar service. The owners prioritised the account.

Beautiful little hilltop village, great location and scenic...

Beautiful little hilltop village, great location and scenic views with some history. Reasonable number of good dining options but it's not a busy 'resort'. We loved it, but noted that others had commented that there wasn't enough to do in the village in the evenings - too quiet apparently. Probably best enjoyed with access to a car, but limited bus options if on foot.

Savoca is a lovely village with a lot of traditional charm,...

Savoca is a lovely village with a lot of traditional charm, beautiful walks and interesting history. We found the people there very genuine and welcoming. The food was delicious. Very easy to explore on foot. A great place for godfather fans but you will have a lovely time even if you’re not interested in the films.

If you want to put the world aside for a while then Savoca...

If you want to put the world aside for a while then Savoca is the place for you. A little off the beaten track but such a picturesque part of Sicily. Be warned, you can walk the entire town in a morning and pretty much explore everything it has to offer. But if scenery, friendly people and getting away from it all are what you are after you will be hard pushed to find somewhere better. It does get very hot in summer and due to the filming of some of The Godfather here you do get the odd coach load of tourists turn up for a photo of Bar Vitelli and to do the wedding walk. That said, the town is that small that once you have spent a couple of days here you almost feel like a local and if people watching is your thing, then a cold beer and an ice cream in the square can while away a couple of hours. There are a couple of decent restaurants here too, but they are not open every day. Let's just say that very quickly you begin to realise that this slow way of life might not be such a bad thing. There are a couple of souvenir shops in the main square (if you can call it that), but they are not in your face. And if you walk up to the Saint Nicolas church make sure you stop off at Andrea's olive oil shop. All in all, Savoca is a tiny piece of Italy (Sicily) that you won't regret visiting.

For sure it had to be classified as one of the most beautiful "Borgi" of Italian historic villages (Sicily). The old , quiet village looks like a Nativity crib, especially at night with its dim lightning and charming Savocans! The story behind Francis Copolla's "The Godfather" makes it more intresting. I was very disappointed with the over-priced and money-miser approach of Bar Vitelli...... if you do not sit down and but an expensive Granita .... circa 8 Euro oer person than to just have a photo you are charged 5 euro. But ignoring Bar Vitelli ill-effect approach, Savoca offers wonderful walks, charming atmosphere and scenery, great vinotecas (Wine bars) and places to eat. It is a place to supreme relaxation away from bustling city noise, eventhough on Wednesday a lots of tourists invade the village.

Verdello Home is a wonderful place to stay.

Verdello Home is a wonderful place to stay. Excellent new accommodation and gracious, caring lovely hosts. Situated near the Sea and a short distance to the village of Savoca which is charming, has beautiful vistas, and excellent restaurants.

The views are breathtaking. Truly extraordinary as you gaze across the mountains to the sea and the shores of Calabria in the distance, which gives this hotel a tranquil and serene atmosphere. No cars, other than guests trying to make their way nervously up on the narrow, steep and bendy road. That’s what we did anyway and we were rewarded with a welcome drink and very gracious, warm and helpful service from every person we had the pleasure of talking to. Savoca is a beautiful village a short scenic walk away. Bar Vitelli obligatory.

Beautiful small bed and breakfast, with clean and spacious rooms, a nice backyard with a swimming pool, and a truly dedicated and nice owner who really wants you to feel welcome. She will give you suggestions for things to do and see, and do the booking and reservations for you, and make sure you have a great time in Sicily.
