We liked everything. The room is clean, has everything you need. Availability of a kitchen, a great place to relax on sun loungers on the territory. The presence of a home bird farm was a surprise and this makes this place very interesting to visit.

As a 33-year-old woman traveling alone, I was looking for a place that felt both safe and inspiring – and I couldn’t have chosen better than Palazzo Vigilarium – Boutique Rooms – Rooftop & Arts Hotel. The spacious design rooms with their high ceilings and breathtaking views were truly a dream. Breakfast was healthy, fresh, and delicious, and the homemade dishes were outstanding. On the rooftop terrace, I enjoyed a magical view along with aperitivo and bruschetta prepared with Nonna’s homemade bread – a truly authentic touch. What made my stay truly unforgettable, however, was the extraordinary service. The two brothers who run this family hotel pour their hearts and passion into everything they do. They shared personal travel tips, helped me with reservations, and were even there to welcome me when I arrived very late at night, kindly carrying my luggage all the way to the car upon departure. Thank you so much for this exceptional time – it was truly perfect, and I would return without hesitation.

    Uggiano la Chiesa feels a little like the Highlands of...

    Uggiano la Chiesa feels a little like the Highlands of Scotland - beautiful, friendly and accommodating locals, lovely places to eat and very little public transport! However, taxis are available and the locals are happy to phone on your behalf to help you book one. There was a car rally the day of the wedding too which was exciting to see. 10/10 would recommend visiting the restaurant Matisse. The head waiter Alfriedo is a lovely, incredibly helpful and friendly man who will make you feel very welcome and happily translate the Italian menu for you. The more family-oriented restaurant Skafè is also worth a visit - especially for the metre-long pizza! Chiesa di Santa Maria Maddalena is easily one of the most beautiful churches I have ever visited. I was delighted to sing in it for my friend's wedding. I think Uggiano la Chiesa is a good base to have if you are able to travel to surrounding areas as it's mostly quiet and non-touristy.

    The owners were welcoming and kind. They gave us lots of info and suggestions on what to do or where to go to the seaside. The continental breakfast was good with healthy selections and delicious handmade cakes. Despite the fact that the room wasn't esthetically appealing, it was spacious and clean, the 2 double beds were comfortable, and we had all we needed. Uggiano la Chiesa is a quiet and small village, about 8km from Otranto. You can easily park the car just outside the gate of the house.

    Very clean and quiet. Great to use automatic shutters and mosquito nets so no need for air con, pool was a nice size for relaxing . Location is great but you will need a car as town is very quiet but there are a couple of restaurants and shopping centre all within walking distance, well positioned to travel the Salento region, great spot to come back to after a day travelling, host was excellent and always on hand to help,

    Lovely family run hotel. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The accommodation was lovely and relaxing and exceptionally well kept and clean. Breakfast and dinner were excellent . We did a pasta making class at the hotel, which was a lovely experience and great fun. The owner gave us a lovely tour of their kitchen garden as well. It was obvious how hands on and proud the family are of their business.

    Very warm and sincere hosts – we truly felt that they cared about us. The breakfast was amazing and even more than that – the hosts were happy to prepare things that weren’t even on the menu. Simply wonderful! We didn't speak Italian, and the hosts spoke only a little English, but we still managed to communicate perfectly well! Recomend 100%. Will come back here for sure! Best place in Salento for sure!

    Uggiano is a tactical place to reach in less than 1 hour drive good part of the most beautiful beaches of Salento. The host was very punctual, friendly and helpful in accommodating our needs. The accommodation was clean and cozy. The garden beautiful and perfect to chill after a day on the beach. Highly recommended!
